I hate to be the early bird here, but I think it is time for the annual holiday shopping thread to be started.
The Bonne Mamon advent calendar is already available online. I have decided to skip it this year (have done it for the past several years - the price increased and I think it is time to do something different).
not looking!!! It’s still summer IRL and on the calendar!!!
I do have a unique holiday shopping plan this year. Going to buy my gifts at the German Christmas Markets I plan on visiting on my vacation to Munich in mid-December.
We did this last year! Dress warm and pack boots!
I have a long list of things I know I want to buy but I’m going to have to ship all my gifts this year. I’m thinking of printing out photos and wrapping those ; )
I’m debating on whether to get a Bonne Mamon advent calendar this year too. My D and her roomies have loved it, but last year they only consumed 2/3 of the jars. I’m looking for other advent options they may enjoy more. (College seniors, open to suggestions… maybe teas?)
My daughter also said that “too many” of the flavors last year were really odd ones. And she has an adventurous palate. I will likely pass this year.
Not an advent calendar, but I’ve sent this before as a “cheer up” gift and the flavors are more typical https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B21ZM7JW
I’m sending a vine box advent calendar
let me know of any tips you have - I have this other thread you can comment on
I just bought photo frames and will be ordering photos of my extended family with S & DIL from their 10/2023 wedding and give one to each of my sibs. The photo includes my late brother.
I am also giving a photo that includes all of us and my BIL to my BIL when we see him in November.
Costco already has some of their advent calendars, including the Lindt chocolate ones. Unless one’s allergic, chocolate is almost always a good option.
L’occitane has nice advent calendars, if you want a non-edible option.
Target has announced their holiday sale plans already. I’ll be checking in daily during the weeks they have special deals since that’s where I buy most of our grandchildren’s books, clothes and toys. I made my first Christmas purchase already - some Bluey themed gift wrap from Target.
We got a few nice gifts last year in Target that were from Marks & Spencer. They announced they are doing it again this year.
- Target is bringing back its popular partnership with British retailer Marks & Spencer, introducing new food & beverage items and, for the first time, new home items like London-themed ornaments and mugs, all under $20.
This truly might be a GC Christmas.
I bought some Penzey’s gift cards. I think that is it for awhile until they give me some ideas.
The grandkids are easy but in reality they don’t really need anything.
Last year someone mentioned buying Penzey’s sample spices and making their own advent calendar. I bought boxes from Amazon and did a spice advent calendar for my kids. They loved it.
I asked them to save the boxes so that I could fill them this year. Now I’m racking my brain trying to figure out what to put in them. They are approximately 2x2x2"
chocolates, truffles, special soaps, lip balm, lip gloss, key chain?
Do you have a link to the boxes you used? Once you filled the boxes did you just number them and put them…in a box??
A message each day of something different you love or admire about them?
