Our little town had a Homecoming event combined with a small town fall event w fireworks. Our son and several of his friends made the trip home for a couple nights. It was nice to see him in his bed again, and yes, sad to see him go again.

Our HS parade was yesterday. The marching band, a float for each class (seniors won
), the homecoming court waving from convertibles. It was cute, if only for a few minutes (pretty short parade) - bonfire/pep rally after. All the rest of the stuff is Friday and Saturday.

I was in rural Ohio (not my home state) for several days this summer and saw a banner for a town “homecoming” event. It seemed like a neat idea for a small town where everyone goes the the same HS - particularly one with a minimal economic base so people leave to find work.

My kids don’t make it home for homecoming. Poor timing and too far away.

D came home for homecoming freshman year, but hasn’t since then. And I doubt S will, as it was never a big deal to him in high school. Makes me kind of sad, seeing all the FB pictures from my friends with kids still in high school. I miss those Friday Night Lights! But thank goodness I don’t have to make any more mums! (Non-Texans, google “homecoming mums” if you don’t know what that is! Lol).

wow everything in Texas is big, huh? charming tradition!
