I know Best, Hayden, and Irish halls are for Honors, but are members of Honors required to live there? What would be the pros and cons of living there, as opposed to any of the other dorms. Although a serious student, I am very outgoing and like to party also. I am worried that the Honors dorms will be too quiet for me. Thoughts?

Not required. If you want to have parties in your dorm or down the hall, the honors college is not the place for it. I prefer to party somewhere else and have a dorm that I can always count on as a quiet place to study. If you want a more outgoing dorm, I’d suggest Hassayampa.

Just because you’re at the honors complex doesn’t mean you don’t party. I’ve had parties in my room, they have always been small and chill, nothing crazy or insane. If we want that, we go off-campus. Your experience here is how you make it. It’s also really nice to have quiet weeknights and no vomit along the stairwells…which is definitely prevalent in other dorms like Hassayampa or Manzy.
I liked living here so much I’m doing it again next year! yay!

christalena2, will an incoming 1st year honors student guaranteed a space in the honors dorm?

Here’s my interesting story…

When I applied for housing, I put Hayden, then Best, then Irish. I was put in Hassayampa. I wasn’t really interested in living there, so I emailed Michelle Hollin (I think…) about it, and she changed my housing. She told me I would be in Hayden, but I ended up in Best…which was perfect, because I love it here!!

So, I am pretty sure that incoming freshman are assured space in the honors dorm as long as there’s enough room. So, if you (or your son/daughter) somehow end up in a dorm that you didn’t request, you can just call or email someone in the honors college and they will always be willing to help you out.

Good luck!
