Honors

Hey
What does it take to get into the Honors program ?
I don’t know anything about it but could I get an IR degree from it ?

Any info on it would be great
thanks

I got into the Barrett Honor’s College…I’m in-state and if I go, I will be majoring in global studies…which is kind of like international relations. Go to their homepage and email admissions if you want more info.
The honors college is selective, but if you’re smart and present yourself well, you’ll have a chance.

Nice, how is it ? I hear it’s a pretty good program but is it as good as a school like GW or American in the field of global studies ?

also… does being in the honors college set you apart socially from the people who aren’t in the honors college ?

If you look at the other thread I posted in, I gave some info.

But answering your question…

You can get any degree that is offered through ASU through Barrett’s. The honors college offers more opportunities than the regular students. My sister is not in the BHC, and constantly wishes she was, mostly because honors students can get appointments for advising, unlike regular students, and we also get priority registration…meaning it is easier to get the classes we signed up for.

There is nothing that sets you apart socially from regular students, unless you live in the honors dorms your freshman year. My sister’s two roommates at her apartment are in the honors college, and they are exactly like her.

The honors college isn’t a separate institution within ASU, it is merely a program that offers extra opportunities and that requires a little more effort.

I am going to be a freshman next year at the Honors College. Obviously, Best, Hayden, and Irish halls are most convenient and are designed for the Honors College student. However, I was wondering what people thought about me living in Hassayampa/McAllister or Cholla. Are these building A LOT nicer than any of the honors dorms? Would living at a non-honors dorm be a bad thing?

No, it wouldn’t be bad at all.

There are some benefits to living in the honors dorms, like the Barret living and learning community that wouldn’t be offered to you at the other dorms and the fact that you are around other honors students, but Hassayampa is the newest and most updated dorm complex! If you get that, then definitely take it. It’s really up to you.

What about Sonora? I think I like that hall best, any arguments against it, or is it a good bet?
