Horizontal vs Vertical Business Cards?

Just wondering if any of you have any thoughts on this. I’m mostly used to traditional horizontal ones, but Costco has a nice template that makes a vertical business card that would match our brochure and I’m on the fence. H says he always promptly disposes of any business cards that aren’t traditional horizontal. I don’t really mind business cards that are slightly different or a different orientation, as long as they’re the same size as the others so that they aren’t a major storage issue.

Anyone else want to weigh in? This card would be for a nonprofit that does health education and health advocacy related to a particular health condition. Thanks

I definitely see cards in creative industries that are vertical or even square.

I don’t have an issue with a vertical card. I do use the CamCard app to scan business cards but I think it can accommodate vertical cards.

Well, both D & H point out that most of the patients and providers I network with are older and more used to the traditional horizontal cards than the vertical ones. There’s that to think of as well.

I don’t mind vertical, but I hate weird shapes.

I toss business cards as soon as either I accept their LinkedIn invite or they accept mine… At one law firm, partners would have horizontal business cards, and associates would get vertical. Kind of kiddos’ restricted DL, LOL.

Just happen to think horizontal is an easier layout for business card.

Horizontal is easier to pull out and read from card holders (if you use them). DS’s had a card that is horizontal but had one curved corner. I liked it.

Who uses business cards these days? What’s their point? I have a stack here on my desk, they are really just a nuisance. Many are duplicates as well.

But, if you use them, I would stick with the traditional horizontal layout.
