House finale... who else watched it? [spoilers]

Admittedly, I didn’t watch any of season 7, and only the first two and last four eps of this season, but man, those three eps before the finale (with Wilson’s cancer arc) draw me back in.

Overall, it wasn’t the best episode of the series, but the last ten minutes, I thought were satisfying–House giving up has career, everyone else in his life, the puzzles of medicine, and (on paper) his life to spend the last five months of Wilson’s life with him and literally ride off into the sunset together. Platonic or romantic, that is love. I thought the hallucination spirits were generally well-used, and I was legitimately shocked to see Sela Ward (Stacy) show up. I do think the pacing could have been better in places, and I would have liked an “I love you” after Wilson telling House he needed to hear him say it in penultimate ep. But overall, it was a fitting way to say goodbye to the show and character, IMO.

What do you think?

Agree with all of the above. Too bad things went so wrong with Lisa Edelstein because Cuddy should have been one of the apparitions. I thought it supported all the Sherlock parallels because Sgerlock Holmes fakes his own death. By serendipitous coincidence BBC America just aired an episode with that plot point on Aherlock.

But when Wilson gets really bad, House won’t be able to write prescriptions for painkillers for him. Will House kill himself when Wilson dies? He’s dead. Not only no medical license, no house, no money, no property at all.

I loved the ending…i don’t know how it could have been better. I liked season 7 and the House- Cuddy relationship. I also like Lisa Edelstein quite a bit…even though she got pregnant with Ben’s baby.

But the House-Cuddy relationship played out, so it was ok Lisa wasn’t in the finale.

House was House…which I enjoyed…House did not do anything that was not true to his personality.

What really makes me happy was that they didn’t kill House. I don’t know how I could
watch the reruns knowing that House dies. Would have killed the mystery. I was worried about that because I like the reruns.

So House and Lost are done. The shows I watched the most.
Right now…I am pretty much down to the Big C. I could almost get rid of the tv. The Big C and House reruns. My youngest daughter loves House…which makes watching House even better.

My 2nd year medical school daughter called me last night, crying that the show is done. She said it has had a big impact on her.

Doct…that is touching…

what kind of doctor does your daughter want to be?

She starts her rotations in July - year 3. She is leaning towards the ER but clinical rotations will give her a better idea. She prefers being in a hospital environment as opposed to an office.

Nice…she can be the Jennifer Morrison character…

How is your daughter liking medical school so far?

Who’s Ben?

LasMa…

You never watched Felicity?

I actually thought he was dead for real and I just had a moment of shock and actually did tear up. I liked the ending, though, and I loved that they gave the House/Wilson relationship the importance that it deserved.

Well at least it wasn’t all a dream and he didn’t wake up in bed with Emily.

That was a classic show.

My medical student daughter (brand-new M-4) much prefers Scubs to House. House is just too unreal for her.

OTOH I think it’s apples and oranges.

I didn’t want to watch a finale were the plot involved people either being in a dream, or purgatory, limbo, hell, heaven or seeing-things-not there crazy. So the finale was really sleepy for me until the last few minutes when Wilson picked up his cell phone. The ending was as satisfying as Shawshank Rdeemption’s ending. And the song, “Keep Me in Your Heart” was absolutely perfect.

UMDAD, one of the most unreal things to me about House is the size of the rooms. I’ve spent a lot of time in hospitals with my ailing parents, and I have yet to see a room where you could walk more than two steps in any direction. Not quite like the cavernous accommodations at PPTH.

Overlake hospital, which my mom was in and out of, has good sized rooms, often with couches designed for relatives to sleep overnight

Shut up you idiot. Priceless. Loved it.

And every room is all glass. Unless it’s the ICU, not happening.

However, room size and privacy issues are the LEAST unreal things about the show. I knew when I saw a doctor helping a patient to the bathroom that the show had crossed over from fantasy to total lunacy.

The last few minutes were interesting–but I thought the first part, in the burning building, was drawn out way too long. I fast-forwarded through part of it. I never enjoyed Amber’s character, so I wasn’t happy to see her so much in the finale.
