Yes, I know it took my breath away when I heard. My first thought was I’d misheard. I immediately called my d (20 in NYC) and told her to live her life and quit worrying so much.

Seriously people, we are each here for a finite period of time, not one of us knows how long that time is, so please LIVE each moment.

DON’T USE THE LINK ABOVE. That link may have a virus attached. It was identified as a malicious virus and not allowed to open by my anti-viral program.

I have very strong, updated anti-virus software and it doesn’t have a problem with the link. It is a link to United Press International. It is a news site that has been around a long time.

MOWC, what software are you using? I also have a very good, updated program (Macafee), but I still had problems. I know that UPI is a reputable news organization, but when I tried to scroll down to read more of the story, I had some popups and my computer started having spasms (if you know what I mean).

Keeping Windows systems updated and safe is a pain in the neck. Between antivirus, firewall, antispyware and Microsoft’s seemingly endless supply of bugs, it’s easy to spend a day of computer time a month keeping your computer safe.

One of my systems did the XP3 update. Another tried to and it hung. Had to kill the update and it then spent an hour backing out the update. I have another system to update to SP3.

^^^ the first thing I do when I take a new computer out of the box is to turn OFF windows firewall and Windows updates. If I have no problems with my computer using my own firewall and spyware/adware, then I never look back.

I also don’t use IE anymore and was happy to recently read that firefox is encroaching (albeit slowly) on their space.

Firefox doesn’t allow the popups on that page. I get a notice at the top and tell it NO for popups on that site

I didnt have a problem either.
I have popup blockers always.(safari- which is also available for windows I think)
also my virus software is ClamAV

I was also very shocked to hear the news that John Travolta and Kelly Preston’s son died. It is heartbraking for any parent to lose a child. However, I don’t believe that Jett had Kawasaki disease, as he claimed. If you look at the video Jett is always followed by a guard, is placed in the car before anyone else, John Travolta climbs over him to get into the car and when he scratches his head, Jett’s fingers are very abnormally bent. I hope that whatever illness Jett had, his parents Scientology beliefs didn’t come before their son’s health. I do think it is tragic that their son died and my heart goes out to the family.

It’s being reported that Jett was autistic (but the parents have denied it). Scientology looks down on mentally disabled–thinks of them as less than human and that they can cure themselves by getting deeper within their scientology faith. If you see the way the boy walks and his facial expressions, you can see the signs of autism. They blame his condition on cleaning the carpets when he was 2 (the most common age for autism to become recognized and diagnosed). They can’t publicly acknowledge autism because of their commitment to scientology. It’s all very sad.

Autism does not lessen the love that a parent has for their child. My sympathy goes out to the family. Perhaps someday however, they can find the strength to go public and perhaps help other families by sharing their experiences with their son.

Whatever Jett’s disability was, the Travoltas chose not to discuss it in public. That was their choice. I am sorry that the young man died, and my heart, too goes out to the family.

Look, it’s a horrible tragedy. Whether Jett was autistic, or had epilepsy, or anything else, if he was denied proper medications because of his parents’ Scientology beliefs (and I know they don’t believe in epilepsy medication – my older sister has epilepsy, so I pay attention to that kind of thing), it certainly raises questions.
