What can I do to convince them reassure them I can handle double maths and I’ll be focused. What can I say
It might be easier to answer if you provided some background information on yourself. Are you good at math? What grade are you entering? What is your current Algebra I grade? What two classes do you want to take concurrently – is it geometry and algebra II?
Without that information, it is hard to come up with an argument to elaborate why you should double up on math next year. I’d be happy to provide some assistance once I know.
^^ I actually was looking through your previous threads, and now I feel like I know how to answer your question. Please note: there is no reason for you to double up in math UNLESS you want to take Calculus in high school (AB, BC, normal, whatever). I do not recommend doubling up in math if its sole purpose is for you to take AP Statistics or to not take math your senior year in high school.
Anyway, I think you should email your teacher and arrange a time for you two to meet. There, you can talk about your math goals (maybe even with your guidance counselor also).
*Explain why it is necessary for you to take the class. (This should be that you want to take higher-level mathematics during high school and that it would be impossible to do so without doubling up).
*Emphasize your 89% in the class. Explain that you did well, and that you think you can handle two math classes at once next year.
*Provide a prospective study plan for next year. Explain to your teacher how you would manage taking two math classes at once and what your plan would be if you didn’t do well in one of the classes. Show the teacher how you intend to do better than you did this year in both of the classes (a 89 is good, but you want to show your teachers that you are aiming for an A and are willing put in a lot of effort to improve).
*If you have any standardized math test scores that show you do well in math, provide them as a reinforcement that you are good at math and can handle taking two classes at once.
Good luck!
