How can I do this?

I don’t want to armchair diagnose your D, but
I should have added ( tic) to my earlier comment).
I also didnt say I was left without transportation, only that he used my car.
He left his here which was fine for shorter distances.
I also live in the city, so can walk or bus to anywhere I want to go.
Ive been given alot to think about & thank you all, but I will not be returning to this thread.
I was surprised to see it return to the first page, because I thought the topic has been do e to death.

:-/

EK, I had noticed both you and a couple of other posters have referenced possible mental illness for your D. That’s what I meant. I did no diagnosing, just noticed that the distancing goes back many years. It may have nothing to do with mental illness-might even be a specific thing that happened that to everyone else was completely innocuous. Sorry I wasn’t clear.

Yes, it is sad that instead of saying she didn’t want to go skiing for her Christmas vacation, she just made other plans.
She had never been very good at speaking up for herself,
I thought I was encouraging her to, but…

EK a lot of people here care for you.

Emeraldkity- I want to share with you a bit about a friend of mine. She adores her father, loves him and admires him in a lot of ways but she has chosen for her own well being to not have contact with him right now. It isn’t really about what her Dad is doing now but about how my friend feels about herself when she has her parents in her life. She feels she has issues that need working on and she falls into old patterns when she has a relationship with her family. Her Dad is well respected in his field and to outward appearances is very together but his D chooses to not be part of his life. It is more about my friend then her Dad.
Know that while your D is distancing herself she most probably loves you deeply but for reasons known only to her she feels like she can’t have a relationship with you right now. She knows you love her and will be there for her when she is ready.

Thinking of you, EK.

Thanks, i am not doing so well today.
Everyone is telling me she will come around, but it sure doesn’t feel like it.

I’m sorry you are having a bad day, EK. Hugs.

Sending warm thoughts and friendship yourway ek as I turn in for the night
