I’ve been to a few Science Bowl meetings at school and am interested but I don’t know much. How can I prepare? Are there books out there?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, btw. I’m fairly new to CC but I hope this is the right section! :)

I’m on Academic Quiz Team, and Science Bowl is one of the competitions we do, but since I’m more of a potpourri person on the team, I haven’t been to any science bowls. The people who go usually already have a lot of knowledge of science trivia. They study lists, which are given to them by our coach, and just do some general research. Usually, the stick with web sources and general ones like wiki since they don’t need to go in depth.

Okay, thanks! I’ll look into that.

Read up on science, textbooks, wikipedia, sites like hyperphysics and physicalgeography.net.

Find practice questions off the internet. There are plenty of them.

Just reading Campbell and Reece for Biology, Zumdahl for Chem, Halliday for Physics, Seeds for Astronomy, and Tarbuck for Earth Science took my team very far at Nationals. Finals in 08 and 1st place in 09.

read your science textbooks
cover to cover

Wow, thanks everyone!

I just realized how disturbed I’d be if I saw soy sauce that was actually pink.
