How Did You Pick Your Screen Name?

D’s nickname is “La”, which makes me “La’s Ma.”

Probably easy to guess mine: when I joined CC my D was seriously considering a music performance major… and the music forum in particular was a life-saver.

This is what I always put in my coffee or tea, and I love food. There really was no rhyme or reason. Staples and familiarity. Story of my life.

Bullet was in the AF and that was his callsign. One night we got into an argument and I told him he was too ANAL, he retorted well that’s because you are a Pain In My A$$, thus I am going to call you PIMA! We laughed so hard the fight ended there, and for the past 15 yrs I have been known as PIMA. I love it so much I even had my license plate say PIMA on it.

The funnyy story to that is the DMV worried about what PIMA meant, asked him and he said it means beautiful in Italian. They bought that as an explanation.

PIMA - I didn’t think I could like you any more. This is priceless!! :)

orchestramom, I too joined when DD decided to pursue a performance degree and I was clueless. The music forum was a lifesaver. Name is obvious  But hard to believe she is a senior again, the 07 was her HS graduation.

My finger got stuck on the shift key and then I couldn’t change it :frowning: , but at least people know I’m not a student.

I should not have put the initials of our state. Kids in my son’s theatre program have said to him, “Is NJTheatreMom your mother?”

Actually, mine was conceived to confound the masses. D plays didgeridoo.

I’m probably one of the very few people here who was sufficiently unimaginative (and stupid) to use their real name. I don’t know what I was thinking, especially given some of the definitely non-public information I’ve disclosed. But the cat is long since out of the bag, so there isn’t much point my changing it now.

Love your name PIMA!!

When I started to sign in the CC, DD had already decided where she was going to school. I however, had a lot of changes going on in my life and I realized that I was just a work in progress - something I always hope to be.

The 2 got added when something went wrong with my account and since my email had changed when I first joined and I couldn’t remember my password…

I’m originally from Virginia and there was an outdoor theater in my hometown called Dogwood Dell. I remember going there as a kid and I loved the place. I originally started out as Dogwood Dell, but I forgot my password, so I shortened it to Dogwood when I re-registered. If there are any Richmond folks out there - Is the Dogwood Dell still around?

Because I loved college.

@ Dogwood - I’m not from Richmond, but I googled and found Dogwood Dell in Richmond.

When I was young one of my heroes was Tony Conigliaro, a young emerging baseball superstar. His nickname was TonyC so my friends nicknamed me TonyK. TonyC was beaned in a ballgame and nearly died in the hospital. He made a brief comeback but was never the same ballplayer again. His life was a tragic story with no happy ending.

I chose my nickname while on the earliest baseball coaching sites a long time ago and have never changed it. We weren’t very creative back then and most of us just used a form of our real name.

Thanks, blueiguana. I remember going there to play and pretending to be a star up on that stage. Too bad I can’t sing or dance :(

I wasn’t planning on staying around so I didn’t give it much thought.

PIMA, Bullet said he’d let you tell the reason for your screen name almost a year ago, didn’t he? Well, it was worth the wait. :)

Has Curmudgeon ever said why he chose that name? I looked it up in dictionary.com, and it means “surly, miserly.”

lol…those who don’t know me here always think I’m a guy.

Well, I watched lone ranger reruns with my brother…cool guy.

But I figured - at least at first…hey this is kind of like wearing a mask…posting on these boards. And I love music…so wallah…

“Hi Yo Silver Away!”

Yes, Bullet said about a yr ago, I guess I forgot, plus, I am known to get into arguments on the political threads, so now they know why I am Pima, they will really believe it is very fitting.
