How do I enter my SAT score in University of California's application?

For english proficiency as an international student, I want to report my SAT reading and writing score of 710, and the range of the score I can enter in the applying website on UC is 40. I am confused how to enter my score if they provide the options from 1 to 40?? Is it suppose to mean the number of questions I got right on the test? But then college board don’t tell me how many questions I got right on the test so I am confused… PLEASE HELP

I may be mistaken but I don’t believe the UC system allows for SAT scores to be substituted for English proficiency.

Paging @Gumbymom

Each SAT section is scored out of 40.

But I don’t think the new DSAT reports that way. IIRC you only get your total now.

Ways to meet the UC English proficiency requirement:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 80 or better (Berkeley prefers 100)
  • International English Language testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 6.5
  • DuoLingo English Test (DET) with a minimum score of 115

Other ways for international students to meet the language requirement includes:

  • 3+ years of Language of Instruction (LOI) in English
  • Score 3, 4 or 5 on the AP examination in English Language and Composition, or English Literature and Composition
  • Score 6 or 7 on the IB Standard Level examination in English (Language A only)
  • Score 5, 6 or 7 on the IB Higher Level examination in English (Language A only)
  • Score 24 or higher for the ACT English Language Arts (ELA)
Score 31 or higher on Writing and Language in the SAT

@eunji

Here is how to read your SAT score report so you can enter the Writing and Language score. Note the UC’s will not accept the DSAT scores for the English Proficiency requirement.

Also, the digital SAT Reading and Writing section score has not been approved to meet English language proficiency

DSAT is not acceptable for the UC’s.

Was just explaining where that number comes from.

I just reread your comment. They accept the old rest but not the new one? That makes more sense now regarding the score report.

I added the DSAT information after I originally posted since I remembered there was a statement on the UC website which is not easy to find but wanted to cover all bases when answering OP’s question.
