how do i find a loophole?

this is getting ridiculous…both schools are good, and this isnt exactly the worse thing that could happen to a person…sorry…u really should get over it because your situation is just too hard for anyone to sympathise with=.=

I can understand. parents can be tough.

if I were you, go to your dream school! Call Rice, be extremely kind, and tell them that about your situation. heck, you could say you thought it was early action not early decision…

I’m sorry this is happening to you, but you kind of deserve it.

thats harsh. no one deserves it. i mean he just underestimated himself and with a school like stanford…can you really blame him?! give him a break. jeez. you r hard to sympathize with but call.

btw, april 1st is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally close…

they will probably wonder why they accepted you if you tell them you thought it was early action…IF they believed you they would probably think you were too stupid to read a simple contract.

Hey Pindar, yes I can blame him. If stanford was really his dream school why didnt he apply EA? You have to be ■■■■■■■■ to not realize a 2300 is a good score.

I blame him, but i stillthink he should try to go to his dream school.

i’m not saying hes wrong. i mean why on earth would anyone choose rice over stanford? still, i pity him more than resent him

Whatever this individual does at this point, his high school will likely be penalized for his not strictly honoring the ED contract. This is very short-sighted & selfish of him as it affects MANY folks at his high school now & in the future.

I would not be surprised if both Rice & Stanford & all other colleges withdraw acceptances from this individual at this point for his violating the terms of the ED contract. Harsh or not, it’s the reality of the contract that was signed & it is assumed individuals can read & honor what they sign if they’re going to start college in the fall.

I guess if I were an admissions officer I would have to question why teachers and counselors kept merrily filling out letters for a student who applied binding ED somewhere. It would make me question the integrity of their recommendations. (OP claims to have applied and been accepted to a ton of places, in various threads).

And if I were a gc or administrator in that high school, I would be on the phone pdq to the colleges, explaining what procedures were being put in place to avoid this happening again.

That said, I still find it hard to believe that any one student, however amazing, would get accepted to all those places, given how competitive things are now. But I suppose if it is for real, it won’t take too long for the colleges to sort it out, given the vast amount of personal data OP has posted on CC in various stats and chances threads.

If you don’t go to Rice your high school may be blacklisted. I’m pretty sure it happened to my school; luckily, the effect began wearing down this year.

what does that mean? “blacklisted”

and yes, i do plan to go to rice…thanks you guys for the suggestions and advice :D

bummer. keep trying for stanford! :)

hehe…thanks…im going to try and transfer next year…

blacklisted means the schools will be hesitant to accept kids from your high school in the future

Um…well, Rice isn’t that bad man. Stanford is a great school, but so is Rice. If you really hate it at Rice or something, then transfer. If I were you, I’d stick with Rice honestly. From what I saw, it is a phenomenal place. There’s a girl there that is publishing in Science, the top journal for research basically. As a pre-med, I’m sure you want those kind of opportunities, which will be readily provided to you at Rice. Good luck at Rice, nonetheless!

Am I the only one who can’t help but to think that he’s actually going to Stanford and breaking the contract? I guess there’s no way for anyone to ever verify…

Technically, you coudn’t verify if he got into either school or if he’s even a senior. I take his word; that’s enough for me.

I think the schools that do binding ED send out a list of their accepted students to other schools.
