<p>I am currently the only junior taking AP Calc AB, the highest math class in my school. Next year, I want to take AP Calc BC. FLVS is free but I have taken classes there before and it’s not really for me. I considered EPGY but I know how hard the classes are and the last thing I want to do is jeopardize my GPA. One idea that I particularly like is independent study. However, my school does not have an independent study program. How do I go about talking to them to let me allow to do one?</p>
<p>Contact a teacher that could potentially help you with it. Because you will probably need an advisor for an independent study. But if you don’t know who to approach for that, ask your principal or academic schedule director or something.</p>
<p>I am close to my current calculus teacher and I am sure she would be glad to help me. For the curriculum, do I follow the College Board guidelines and buy a textbook?</p>
<p>I’m not entirely sure because I’ve never done an independent study, but if that’s what collegeboard say to do, then I would follow that. I’m sure your teacher would recommend a textbook and she might even have one that you could use. That’s really weird that your school doesn’t have BC though. And because of that there’s probably student in the past who have done the same thing you are doing, so your teacher would probably be familiar with students asking to do an independent study.</p>
