How do I Write a Course Request Letter?

I want to take Econ a year earlier than it’s typically taken, and need a letter from my parents requesting it for approval by admin. When I asked my parents, they told me to write a draft, which they’ll then copy and sign to make it ‘official’. They don’t have any experience writing these, and neither do I. Any help, CCers?

All I have right now is:

To the Administrative Staff at (full name of high school),

My child, (my full name), would like to take Economics and Personal Finance as a sophomore. Instead of as a junior.

Sign name

Is there anythug else I need? An explanation as to why? (The class is required, online, and supposedly sucks to take in school, and I need the extra space for my foreign lang. req as a junior) Can anyone provide a sort of form letter/outline?

Well, I’d leave the part out about the school course sucking, but I would add the part about how “taking this economics course will allow my daughter to schedule a foreign language class in her junior year.” Also ideally this letter could mention that you have a special interest in this topics, and are eager to study them. Then end with your parents expressing their belief that you have the maturity, motivation and time to do well in this online course.

@CheddarcheeseMN I don’t have an interest in it. It’s a required course by the state so we’ll know how to handle money later on. The county made it an online course. Thanks for the help though.

Anything else I could add? Would two or three sentences be enough, or should I add more?

“Instead of as a junior” is a sentence fragment.

@bjkmom Sorry, typo.
