I often need to use Mapquest or Google Maps on my computer. For quite a while now I’ve only used Mapquest because the Google Maps street names and even the control bars and functions or so very tiny they are unreadable.

Now the same thing is happening in Mapquest. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? I thought maybe it was my browser but I just loaded the most up-to-date version of Firefox and the same thing is happening.

I use safari generally, but I assume you have checked your font settings in your browser &/or your system folder?
Perhaps the map applications are defaulting to a font you don’t have/became corrupted.

I would say it is either your eyes or your computer and not the map sites themselves. You can zoom in to see street names on Google maps. I gave up on Mapquest a long time ago as they give the worst directions in our area.

If you’re on Windows 7, you could try the magnifier. Mac OS X has a zoom feature too if you have a trackpad. I’m not sure how you do it without a trackpad. I think that Windows XP had third-party tools for doing screen zoom.

This may not be what chug is experiencing, but when I zoom in on a map in either progrem, the fonts increase in size a bit but then jump down to a much smaller size , so I zoom a bit more, and sure enough, they jump back into “too tiny to read” mode. I find it very frustrating, but I’m sure it’s something built into the program to prevent the names of major streets becoming gigantic as people zoom in. I don’t think this is a browser problem, I think it’s designed into the maps. Wish I still had my younger eyes.
