How do "treat" yourself?

Related to the mani/pedi thread. When you want to do something nice for yourself, what do you do? Tonight I have to host a cocktail party for thirty of my husband’s colleagues. Because of that, I decided to slip into the sauna for half an hour after I ran today. Other things I consider treats are buying raspberries for my cereal (it’s hard for me to spend $4 when I can buy a banana for $.50) and driving to a park to walk the dog where there is a creek and shady paths. (That’s a treat for him, too.) What about you?

I allow myself an hour or two to sink into a good book, or take a nap!

Walk in the park or bike ride, time allowing. If less energetic, than a glass of wine and a book.

I’m partial to nice meals out, especially coupled with a delicous dessert!

I take a hot bath every night and work Kakuro/Sodoku puzzles.

I purchased a Starbucks card for myself and keep it loaded. With the card I can get my vanilla syrup for free, I bring my own cup and my grande bold with vanilla costs me $2.03. I never feel guilty about it.

I buy arts and crafts books and supplies, and play with them.

I love to curl up in a chair with a good book and I enjoy working sudoku puzzles.

Yum–just finished a Haagen-Daz icream bar. A rare indulgence – but just hits the spot so nicely!

Aside from a Pedicure… I treat myself to a nice lunch sometimes if I’m in a bad mood. That’ll cheer me up!

Whenever I would put in extra long hours at the office – I’d buy myself a big bouquet of fresh flowers for home.

90 minute massage twice a month with my wonderful massage therapist. Nightly hot bath.

Im going to go out with a new friend tomorrow night to hear funk music from New Orleans!

I don’t know if I will be able to stay awake after 10 pm, but she called and asked if I wanted to go hear some dancing music ( my H doesn’t dance & I am mad at him anyway- so much so that I am looking at places to lease for a sabbatical!).

I need some new friends- my old ones are dear- but we have different interests mostly & this woman I barely know except through a depression support group & I figured we could help each other.
So I guess doing something for myself- is first saying that it is OK to do something & then doing it- that is a big step.
:)

One of my favorite things to do is go out to lunch or dinner with a dear group of girlfriends. We laugh and laugh - totally relaxing and such a nice break from all of the responsibilities of life. We share quite a bit in common, so it is really easy and effortless. Once a year we all take a weekend to one friend’s beach house, where we talk, eat, walk on the beach and drink wine. So much fun.

Shopping trip to off price stores. I love finding a bargain. Even if I don’t buy anything, I like to walk around. I have a manicure every two weeks and a pedicure every 8 weeks in the winter and once a month in the nice weather…love the massage part.

Take a long walk in my favorite park.

I work every 5th weekend on call. One w/e call = one massage.

Back in the day when I was a poor resident and moonlighting, I would allow one treat for each moonlighting day/night. It would be something I normally would buy but a much nicer version thereof. For example, I bought a Gore-Tex jacket which was a real splurge at the time, nice leather gloves with a wool liner that I still use 20+ years later :D, and nice pair of winter boots. Upgrading necessities lets one enjoy the said items often and frequently get the warm fuzzies.

Decaf vanilla latte with one of Starbucks tiny new cupcakes (chocolate with peanut butter frosting. I also do 90 minute massages twice a month.

We have a huge gardening-gift store in our little suburban town. That’s a great place to go for a treat. They have a nice cafe and all sorts of things to buy.

Getting regular weekly massage is my treat. I usually get 3 hours a week. Not have to cook on Saturday so I can work in my garden is a treat. Getting fresh cut flowers that are so fragrant from garden is also a treat. Getting regular nap is also a treat. Somehow I don’t read that much anymore, the minute I read I fall asleep.

It’s been so long I can’t recall :(

I have to upgrade my treats, I like a hot chocoloate from Starbucks,or an occasional pedicure, or a mango smoothie from panera. I really like the massage idea. REALLY LIKE IT!
