How do you deal with acne/pimples?

Put a freshly washed towel on your pillow before you go to sleep.

Don’t stress?

Don’t know if thats a myth: that stress causes acne.

No it does cause acne ^

Speaking of accutane, I’ve seen a lot of commercials today about lawsuits because it supposedly may cause chron’s disease and colon removal.

I’m a guy, but I identify with AUGirl’s post.

I had pretty perfect skin until one month into tenth grade. I woke up one Saturday and I had a couple of blemishes (not like super bad, pretty mild). This was spontaneous, I hadn’t done anything out of the ordinary.

I used multiple over the counter products until finally going to see a dermatologist two months ago. Now I’m on an antibiotic and topical gel. While it’s helped, it hasn’t cleared the acne. Though I’ve read it could take months to get into your system fully.

Anyways, everyone’s skin is pretty much different. What you eat could affect you, but it may not affect someone else in the same way. Washing your face is a good idea, but I’m known at school for being one of the cleanest people ever and eventually I had a couple blemishes. It’s a balance to work out the problem, but a lot comes down to genetics as my dermatologist said (I hate my dad’s DNA!). If you truly want it gone, go see a dermatologist.

(Accutane has been associated with intestinal problems. Doctors usually prescribe it as a last resort treatment if no other drugs help. It does cause severely chapped lips and dryness throughout the body as well as other not so good symptoms. The process of getting it is crazy too because of the IPledge program, since it’s so dangerous to become pregnant on the drug due to severe health risks.)

Acutane is a bad idea. I’ve heard that doctors have said that it has worse health effects on guys than girls, but it still is way too dangerous.

Not only that, but it also changes your personality. I had a friend who went on acutane, and he really became a total jerk. The medication really altered him and it was sad.

But @Coste, that’s funny that we basically have the same story. haha. Because I only saw the dermatologist about three months ago. XD My mom had perfect skin… and I always thought I had her skin until about the tenth grade. Ugh.
