How Do You Spend Election Night?

bd, you can’t drink in the hotel? That’s what I was doing four years ago in a hotel room in a neighboring state where I had gone for GOTV work. :)

Bd, hahaha :)

Disclosure: nothing is this post is meant to be political! Here is one thing I can name off the top of my head why “everything but” is not the same as having a piece of paper stating “legal marriage”: the right to petition for the spouse’s immigration to the US. There are some others, of course.

busdriver, I voted against 502, since while I think kids should not be thrown in jail for having a few crumbs of pot on them, I’m against all smoking. Having asthma or having a child with asthma will do that to ya. Period.

“bd, you can’t drink in the hotel? That’s what I was doing four years ago in a hotel room in a neighboring state where I had gone for GOTV work”

Yes, I can. But I don’t want to be one of those drunk airline pilot stories on CNN. I can’t drink in the period of 8 hours before I show for work, ever. They should have put in the contract that nobody has to work election night, so we can drink profusely!

I see what you mean, Bunsen. That would really get the point across to most people.

cartera and roman,
I am sure you are good in Google, so google anything you wish, I Googled "convictions of voter fraud for cigarettes ".
But in my case, I do not need to look for info., I watched the TV interview with the person who committed this funny act of complete amnesia 74 times right. He looked funny also, easy to remember. He did not feel that he did something wrong at all. Everybody is prone to amnesia, I sense, why not, we are just humans…

Oh, bd, I had no idea that you’re a pilot. Yeah, not drinking is a good thing! :D

My favorite part of election night coverage is watching the guys who know this country county by county, precinct by precinct. Barone on Fox and John King on CNN. They’ll say things like “We are waiting for results from X County, which is a swing county, suburban which in 08 went X% this way and Y% that way”. Or this county is coal country or this county is blue collar. I marvel at that.

^Coal might not be blue anymore, but who knows?

I am severely asthmatic but am 100% in favor of pot legalization. Cigarettes are legal and barely bother me because of bans on smoking in public buildings. Pot smoke bothers me significantly less than cigarettes.

I’m biased because my doctor and I are highly considering replacing many of my pain and other pills with marijuana. I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t sleep through the night because of pain and many people with my condition see drastic improvements after using marijuana. Both of my parents are medical marijuana patients and honesty, frankly, I just don’t see a darn good reason why cigs and alcohol are legal but weed isn’t.

I hope that isn’t too political. I apologize in advance if it is!!

It’s not even just about legal rights-I have a gay friend who’s been with the same partner for 15 years, has several kids, a house, etc. and what she wants more than anything is to be able to call her partner her WIFE. She wants to be MARRIED, not “a domestic partner”.

My H is a strong supporter of gay marriage and explains it like this: a few decades ago-in our lifetimes, there were people in the south during the Loving v. Virginia case saying that blacks and white should not marry because it wasn’t right, went against the Bible and so on. They would be against he and I being married, having a child together. But it should be a civil right to marry the person that you love. And I guess I agree with him. I hope to be able to congratulate my friend on her marriage sometime after Tuesday.

As for the pot initiative, I wasn’t aware that it is only about smoking it? Surely there are other ways to ingest it besides smoking it. I would think smoking it in public subject to the same restrictions as smoking cigarettes are here already. My D has severe asthma so I’m all for no smoking in any public building. I think it’s going to eventually have to be a national issue, though. In AZ you can be charged with a felony for smoking pot in public (so I’m told), in Seattle, having a little pot on you is “lowest priority” as could get you nothing more than a warning, if that-heck, we have “Hempfest” every year on city grounds! It’s just not right to have such disparities.

Ss, yes. In my case, I will obviously not be able to smoke. I have a friend that owns a dispensary. You’d be amazed at what forms they can put it in!

Pot legalization is much less of an issue that most are concerned currently. Yey or ney I personally do not care as well as many many other social stuff that has almost no influence on majority of us. I will let people who have those as #1 priority decide one way or another, I do not vote on these ever, I simply do not have enough input to vote one way or another. I apologise if I insult anybody, at the same time I am giving up my rights, so more rights to those who vote for these social stuff, so I do not see how anybody would complain.

Years ago, California voted on a proposition to legalize marijuana for ‘medical’ purposes. Being a compassionate person, not wanting to deprive a dying cancer patient of pain relief, I voted for it. It has become a horrible joke.

Every LA mini-mall has a ‘clinic’ with a green cross (just like the Red Cross’s symbol, only green). In those ‘clinics’ ‘doctors’ will give prescriptions for medical marijuana for anything at all.

Stroll down Venice Beach. The place was never very savory to begin with but now it is worse. Hawkers in scrubs promote their marijuana shops and the stench of weed is so bad that someone going to the beach cannot escape it.

What is it they say about the road to hell?

I will be at home drinking champagne (either way), eating a nice meal and chatting with friends online. The nice thing about being on the West Coast is we don’t have to stay up too late for results… except for 2000.

Last time I split between MSNBC and Comedy Central’s coverage. I will likely do the same tomorrow.

Even this political junkie is exhausted by this campaign. I will be relieved when it’s over.

So, pot on election night, correct?

Campaign is the only funny reality show there, everyhting else is way too boring, I will miss it…

Still looking for the guy who “voted” over 70 times. I’m finding people who fraudulently registered people, but nothing about them actually voting. I think maybe voter registration is getting confused with actually voting.

I googled it also and couldn’t find the situation MiamiDAP refers to.

What you will find is, this cycle, an organized group actually specializing in illegal voter registration behavior, something ACORN never even dreamed about.

I searched it also and it did come up (Google).
