How do you tell someone they're "lacking in hygiene"?

<p>I guess it would depend on the circumstances, but generally speaking I think I would rather hear this from a trusted clergyman than a friend. The clergyman will be delicate and kind about it, but is also far enough removed from me that it does not feel personal.</p>

<p>It may be my maturity level showing, but if I stank, while I would want to know so I could fix it, if someone actually told me I think I’d be so mortified I would never want to show my face in front of that person again. Better it’s the clergyman than my friend. But, that’s just me personally and my hang ups.</p>
