<p>Does anyone know how Trinity College Dublin compares to top UK schools?</p>
<p>On the QS world rankings TCD is #61, above LSE (68) and below Manchester (33). On the Times list of top unis in the world TCD is #110, above UVA (118), and below St Andrews (108). IRL, it depends a lot on what subject- the business school is not as strong as it used to be, whereas it is very strong in sciences - top 1% of research institutions in the world in 17 different fields (Thomson Reuters Essential Science Indicators). Biomedical sciences is particularly strong. It is also ranked in the top 50 globally for English Language/Literature (#28), Politics/International Studies (#31), History (#33), and Modern Languages (#42).</p>
<p>Name value (IMO) is less than the top top UK unis- say, Oxbridge, LSE- but probably has as much weight in the US as any of the lesser-known UK unis. </p>
