How GPA works?

Hi everyone! I’m an Italian High School student, and next year I’ll study abroad in US (12 grade).
Since I want to study physics at university in America, I would like to understand how GPA works.
Here in Italy we do not have GPA, so my principal questions are:

  1. Does GPA depends only on last year grades?
  2. If not, how is calculated an international student’s GPA ?
  3. What’s the difference between Unweighted and Weighted?
  4. You have to get all As to get a perfect GPA?
  5. How APs influence GPA score?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Colleges take your cumalitive GPA, which is all of high school.
  2. That's really up to the school you are going to. I can't give you much information on this.
  3. Unweighted is the grades straight, regardless of level. A=4, B=3, etc... Weighted is affected whether the class is academic/honors/AP.
  4. Yes.
  5. It only affects your weighted GPA.

That’s perfect! Thanks
