<p>r u talking about India?.. Its hard but not very hard to become a good doctor in India… Moreover, if ur father has lots of bucks, then even a fool can become a doctor… many private medical colleges in India take admission with huge Capitation fees…</p>
<p>That’s unfortunately very true.Medical colleges from the ranks of DU(believe me it’s fool-proof to get in) to the infamous pvt. ones in Maharashtra are all so dedicated to take you in if you’re big meat.They’ll go to any lengths, and I’m serious when I say that they promise an MBBS degree at the end of 5 years if you can’t even dissect a rat and don’t even know the full-form of CAT-scan.And then rolls out the long list of quotas which eats up a good 40-45% of the total seats.There are actually only a handful of colleges that take students on merit only, but then yes, it’s very hard to get in.</p>

<p>In Germany it isn’t as insanely hard as in the US. Basically, the only thing you need is a very good Abischnitt (GPA). But a real good one. Like 1.0-1.3. Which is as good as it gets. (1.0 is perfect, which is not as easily attainable as it is in the US). Or you need to wait a year or two until you can start.</p>

<p>In NZ, it’s relatively hard to get accepted to the Health Sciences course for 1st year in uni. But I heard that it’s extremely difficult to go on to your 2nd year, 3rd year and so on because the (good) university’s drop about half of the students each year… eg 300 people first year, 150 second year, 75 third year, and so on.</p>
<p>Becoming a GP is very easy compared to becoming a surgeon or osmething… After finishing the whole education for surgery, I heard that people go down deep in student loans where they end up $100,000-150,000 in debt.</p>
<p>Passing the 1st year MBBS is very difficult in India too. A lot of students fail in the 1st year exams. Medical Education in Govt. colleges of India is very cheap (about 200-300 $ a year). But the govt. seat are very limited. Generally students are eligible for around 2000 Govt. seats, for which around 3 lakh students compete. So, its tough… Not very tough though :D</p>

<p>Yes, no need of loans… but most Indian govt. colleges lacks the superior Infrastructure of the west… Except at the AIIMS, Manipal and CMC, the quality of medical education imparted elsewhere is very low… So, a person has to spend a lot of money to go for PG abroad… for testing and maintainence in the foreign country.</p>
<p>In Australia the requirements for Med are quite insane. First you need a UMAT score that really good as well as a high UAI (its like a ranking of you against everyone else in the country). At some of the most prestigious ones most students have a UAI of over 99.5 which is quite a feat.</p>
<p>We also have lots of people doing pharmacy, health sci, and human movement 1st year in the hope they can transfer into med after their first year. The competition here really is quite insane.</p>

<p>I have an indian gf who’s father is a doctor in Sydney. He’s a cardiologist and a surgeon and he makes around 300-400 grand AUD a year. If your really good with good qualifications and skills you can make a fortune especially considering our current shortage of doctors here. But if you want a really high paying job you should get your degree from a pretigious uni and the money will roll in.</p>

<p>yes adcomm do prefer the online application coz its easy to process and time effective and cost effective and convenient and so on. but it never is a disadvantage of any kind if u do so on paper. actually when these ppl say they prefer they actually mean that it helps…them</p>

<p>i once heard that here in japan, when applying into the very top med schools, they first of all take the smartest…(duh) but then they look into the backgrounds of the families and pick the “best” families</p>
<p>U just need to score highest on entrance exam to get into med schools in Thailand. I was really surprized myself to get into 3 med schools. But I turned them down in order to come to Penn.</p>
<p>And, there’s no loans. It takes 6 years to get BS/MD in Thailand, and the government pays for most of the tuition. However, medical school graduates must work in public hospitals for at least 2 years or have their parents pay back the tuition immediately after the graduation.</p>
