How important is an accounting major?

I’m interested in both liberal arts and business. It would be great if I end up with a career that combines these two fields. I’ve taken accounting classes in high school, won statewide awards, top 13% at a very competitive high school in MD. I’m looking at business schools off some of the top 50 rankings list.
I found that schools like UVA and UMich don’t have an accounting major, only Business Adm/Management.
Should I take similar schools off my list? I know that these are both GREAT schools and I’m not entirely sure that I want to go into accounting, but I’d like to have that option.

Thanks! Happy holidays!

Here are links to accounting departments for undergraduate programs in those schools

you misunderstood. these are majors in business administration, yes, but you choose a focus- finance, accounting, amangement, marketing, accoutning, supply chain, op[erations, the lsit goes on and on at some schools. Keep those wschools on your list, indefinietly.

I don’t know much about American colleges, so thank you very much for the answer! :)
