A lot of people have been saying the life on the weekends is like a ghost town. But that has all been like a couple years ago. I have also heard there are some gangs around Pomona as well… Just wondering how it is?
Since I live nearby, Pomona isn’t really an entertaining city, if that’s what you’re asking. I’ve also carpooled or utilized public transportation to get to most attractions in LA County, and plus most colleges will provide you with a (limited) metro pass, such that you won’t have to pay the full price for your trips. Now that the Metro Gold Line was extended all the way to Citrus College, you could reach downtown LA in about an hour tops. By bus, that would usually take up to two or more hours.
I’m not sure about gangs. Every city has some crime, you can’t escape that. You should worry less about gangs but more about how your life would be at Cal Poly, unless you plan on wandering around Pomona at night, you don’t have to worry about gangs at all.
