<p>I have no idea how fast or slow mail to India is, but I wanted to share a general observation. First, mail sent right around x-mas takes forever to be delivered. Secondly, colleges and organizations often need more time to process documents than I can explain. For example, mail from the US to Germany typically takes a week. However, I had to wait a few months for several viewbooks I requested and for my TOEFL score report. The documents were delayed because colleges waited a few months before they mailed them and not because the postal service was so slow. </p>
<p>If it does take 2 months to get a letter from the US, you might be in trouble when it is time to apply for a visa. Colleges typically don’t give you the visa stuff until after you paid your enrollment deposit, which typically happens right before May 1. You don’t really have the time to wait for two more months before you start the visa application process. In that case you should make sure that the college mails all important document via UPS or Fedex rather than standard mail. In my experience many colleges do that automatically for international mail but some don’t.</p>
