^ with such grammar? Good luck.

wow, the college board statistics posted by War Chant really put things to light. It puts my own high school career in perspective. And here I thought taking 8 AP exams is nothing while only 1.2 percent of high schoolers who take any AP exams do so in 4 years of high school.

However, I get the impression that every college bound senior I’ve met has taken at least one AP or dual enrollment class. I literally cannot find anyone getting into college on just honors and “college prep” (remedial in disguise) classes at my high school. I think that’s really reflection on how weak the regular high school curriculum is.

The average kid at my school probably takes none.
The average smart kid probably takes 3 or 4.
The most anyone will take is 8-10.
AP’s aren’t offered to freshmen and sophomores, and no one ever self-studies at my school.

Average on CC: 10-12.
Average in most parts of the world: 0-2.
Average at my school: 5-6.

I’m gonna be taking 7, maybe 8. I dunno.

Going to be taking the following AP’s in the following years:

Junior Year:
AP Calculus AB
AP Calculus BC
AP World History
AP Language & Composition
AP Chemistry

Senior Year:
AP Biology
AP Physics
AP Literature
AP Psychology

Outside of school, I’m planning to take AP Environmental Science, AP Chinese and AP Statistics after some self-study.

It depends largely on the person and the high school. I am taking 18-19 AP classes before I graduate.

At my school, the average amount of AP’s taken by the average student who applies themselves is 2-3. However, for the “smarter” kids it’s around 5-6 and for the insane, 8-9. I’m most likely end up taking about 6 AP exams before I graduate (Biology, US History, English Lang and Comp, English Lit and Comp, Calc AB, and European History)

I’m taking 5. AP Chem, US Gov, BC Calc, Physics and Econ. But then again I am taking 4 HL IB classes so five is enough.

I took none freshman year (none available), 1 sophomore year, 5 junior year, and will take 7 senior year. I have not done any self-studies. I have the highest number of AP classes in my school (for the class of 2013) but our class of 2012 had one student who self studied and took every single AP test offered by the college board.

The average is probably 0, because most students aren’t even in AP classes. I’m only going to take 9 AP classes total because we cant take APs Freshman year. My school only has like 15 AP classes anyways xD.

At my school, most people don’t even take an AP class. However, there are a few people who decide to take ~3 before they graduate, and at least one who decides to take more than that (My two friends and I will be taking 3 APs and self-studying for around 8)

So I guess the average at my school is around 2-3?

^Bet you don’t have any enemies then.

For the average ivy bound student at my school, probably 8-10. I think I’ll have done nine by graduation. (ap calc, ap eng lit, apush, ap art hist, ap Lang, ap macro, ap bio, ap stat, ap us gov)

Definitely a warped average if you’re cruising CC.

Average at my school would be below 1. They just aren’t necessary here. A girl took 3 this year and she was regarded as crazy and she’s not taking any more.

Personally I have 0, decided not to take 2. We don’t have an AP Government class (just one level, level 4) but the teacher promised to do additional work with me on the side so I can take the exam. It would be really cool to be the only person (possibly ever) at my school to take it, but really lonely at the same time. There’s something about gov’t and politics that gets me fired up, especially during election time.

I think the average amount of AP classes a student takes ranges from 4-10

Also, I was curious, so I pulled the # of people who took AP exams at my school. This is for 2011.

85 students took 141 exams in 16 subjects. (though there are only 10 subjects listed LOL)
5 - 47%
4 - 28%
3 - 15%
2 - 8%
1 - 2%

Bio - 15 students
Calc BC - 16 (woah, we actually have people who take that? news to everyone)
Chem - 7
*Lit - 6
Env. Sci. - 13
Physics B - 14
Physics C, E&M - 8
Physics C, Mech - 11
*Psych - 22
Spanish - 21

= don’t have the class.

So the numbers look really high, but everyone who takes the class HAS to take the test. So yeah, there are only 22 people in level 5 Psych and 7 people in AP Chem, out of a school of almost 800. All of the exam averages were over 4 (only 1 person got below a 3 on the Calc exam), so make of that what you will.

We don’t need AP classes because our regular ones are hard enough. u_u

I dont remember why or what it was really. but in eighth grade (when learning about highschools and stuff) we got this sheet of all the AP classes the highschools offered and how many had passed them… needless to say… AP Human Geo was the most passed test. Wish I had that sheet now as a reference of some sort.

Freshman year:
1 - didnt take the exam (I couldnt pay for it on time, and I never knew colleges looked at these scores at all)

Sophomore year:
5? I’m pretty sure I’ll be taking both physics and calc all year long, but I’m not sure if they are 2 different classes, or 4… AP bio at my school technically takes up two course spots, and I wasnt sure if physics or calc was the same way… besides ap calc and physics I’m also signing up for ap psych.

Junior:
AP english III
AP bio/earth? I really want to take bio, but Earth is required for graduation so I may have to take that that year instead.
AP US History, its a possibility but its a really hard course at my school. TONS of hw.
AP Stat: really want to continue taking math each year after calc (even though you only need up to precal to graduate)
hmmm… I dont know… that might be it. OH and possibly AP World? Maybe, i dont want to fill my plate too much.

Senior:
AP English IV
AP bio/earth, which ever one i didnt take in junior year i’ll take here.
AP computer science
possibly squeeze in AP World here
AP french yeah… something like this.

I think last year, it was said that the average at my school is around 3…
In my school, I think there’s pretty much two extremes, though, as in you basically either have average students or high-achieving students.

I’ll have taken 10 throughout all of high school (Euro / US History, Calc AB, Lang, Chem / Calc BC, Lit, Bio, Physics B, and I don’t know which other one I want to take… I was thinking Studio Art but I’m not 100% sure, the other options I have are Stat, Art History [seems like too much reading though, since I’d already have Bio], Enviro, Gov, and Psych. 'Tis too bad that French is impossible since I can’t skip a year).

Average at my school for the smartest group of kids (in advanced math & science) is around 6-7. If you aren’t in advanced science or math to begin with, then maybe 3-5. I’ll be the first person in my school to ever take 4 AP classes in one year (my junior year). Sooo that says a lot about how my school is and the typical course load. By the time I graduate I think I’ll have 8-10 AP classes under my belt.

At my school, maybe 2 is the average. No, scratch that. 1.
The smart/advanced kids maybe 4-5
Me personally: 0 Freshman year (not allowed), 4 sophomore year, 6 Junior Year and 4-5 senior year
