I can almost guarentee the AVERAGE high schooler doesn’t take any AP classes.

I will take anywhere from 6-13 depending on a lot of things

Although the school offers 24 AP courses–the most in the district, only 8.1% of students in a past year were taking at least 1 AP course.

From my honors English 11 class (that class is required, Lang/Comp is an elective so 2 English classes in one year), I’d say the average is 1-2.

Out of my Spanish 2 class, I’d say there were only about 6 AP class takers out of 30.

Only 5% of freshmen take the offered human geography.

Now my numbers may be a little inaccurate off of my judgment–but most of my classes this year were AP so I don’t know how to gauge the general population of the school.

Judging from personal experience, I think it depends on how many APs are offered at your school. I attended a small, private all-girls school that doesn’t offer a lot of APs and I ended up taking 6 APs over the course of 3 years (because freshmen were not allowed to take any APs up until this past year). But my high school boyfriend went to the larger all-boys school which offered many more APs than my alma mater and he ended up taking 5 APs in his senior year alone.

My school is public, but it is very competitive. The average student here takes maybe 3-5 AP classes in their high school career. More advanced students will take 8+. I’ll be taking ~24.

I didn’t take any AP classes throughout high school and got accepted into Penn State with two scholarships totaling $14,000! :D

This thread is slightly old, but my school has 4 APs and most people don’t take any. I’ll be taking the four we have as well as two online classes and one self-study.

Not sure what average is but I took 8. My school offers 20, though.

My school offers 27, I’ll have taken 16 of them by the time that I graduate. I’ve never taken all APs in one year. I’m also counting by number of exams, some classes are only a semester long.

The average high schooler probably takes 0-4.

In my high school career, I’m going to take 6 or 7 maybe even self study an additional 1 or 2. The average at my school I would assume is around 5-10. In the US the average probably takes 0.

At my school the average is probably two, three for honors students. I will have taken 5-6 by the time I graduate (English comp, English lit, APUSH, bio, calc AB and maybe gov or stats). You can’t usually take them until you are a junior (unless you take calc as sophomore), which really limits us. My one friend who is a genius/on that exact math track will have taken 8 which is practically unheard of at my school.

I go to a public school. Not sure how many my school offers, but I’ll have taken 12 by the time I graduate. My school might offer approx 20.

By graduation, I’ll have taken 7 APs and 6 IB classes and hopefully graduate with the IB Diploma.

AVERAGE is probably 2 or 3 a lot of kids at my school take AP Euro, AP Lang, and AP Stats.

Yeah… At my school, that would definitely be zero. I’m way above average at my school, and I’ve only taken one (I meant to take two, but there was a scheduling conflict. I had 4 additional honors courses, if that counts…) Lots of the people ranked like me are just like me in that sense.

Once you get a level or two below me, the advanced level classes disappear. This may just be because I go to a horrible school, though.

Average on CC: insane Really. Get a life or quit lying. One of the two.
Average in America: 3?
Average in my school that offers 23 APs: 4 to 5.
The girl who was second in the class took 9 whilst the girl who was number one took about 15. We didn’t have val or sal.

Around 15% of high school students in the country took at least one AP test.

You guys really think that the whole country is like CC. It’s not.

^Thank youuuuuu.

^You just said you thought the average was three. It’s zero.

The AVERAGE student takes no APs lol. The average CC student takes 4.3. Average of a random sample of CC chance me posts lol. Of course there’s a lot of bias.
