How many AP classes does the average student take?

How is the average completely zero if some students take APs?

Also, I was thanking you for the last bit of your post, lol. ^▁^

The arithmetic mean should be pretty close to zero. My school offers 16 AP courses(both on-line and in class), of which I am taking 10. At my school I’d say about 20% of the kids take at least one AP course, we only have less than ten kids who are taking seven classes or more.

Ohhhh. I see. I didn’t realize so few people take APs. :o

median zero, mode zero, mean is about 1, or a bit less.

How many AP exams taken and the scores received are what matter.

Well, having the motivation to take the class in the first place matters too.
At my school, they require you to take the tests if you take the class. They’ll also accommodate you without any trouble if you want to take a test in a subject they don’t offer.
I think our scores are pretty low, though. I do know that no one got a 5 on the AP Bio exam last year (teacher told us), although there were several 4’s. Then again, only around 12 people even take the class. I don’t think the grades in our AP classes are inflated, though…a lot of people get 3’s on the test, but they also tend to have low B’s or C’s in the class.
I’m really scared about my upcoming tests!

^I’m really scared too. Two of my APs have major grade inflation and few people pass the test.

All of my AP classes have grade inflation through the roof and the scores are absolutely terrible.

(#RelativelySmallTownHighSchoolProbs)

I took 2 (one self study) and 5 IBs…so 7 total I guess

Do you people who have extracurricular activities? Sports? Musical instruments? I think doing as many APs is possible if all you do is study but not advisable if you have other activities as well…

I have 4 APs, Japanese Club, Model UN, Yearbook, a college class after school twice a week.

If you are including absolutely EVERY student, I’d say about 1 or 2. The maximum number of AP classes at my school between junior and senior year (here, AP can’t be taken as a freshman or sophomore) is about 9.

They’re supposed to be college-level classes, so if large numbers of freshmen were taking them and getting A’s at a particular school I’d be concerned that the material was being dumbed down.

Haha my school offers no AP classes, so I might just self study 1 or 2. I didn’t realize my school’s lack of APs would be a big deal until I came on CC -_-

The average at my school, including everyone, would be about 1. If you only include kids who takes AP classes, it would probably be 3 or 4.

i plan on taking over 13 APs by the time I graduate (some online courses taken for credit, some dropping after one semester, some self-studied)
(Physics C, Physics B, Stats, Calc AB, Calc BC, English Lit, Latin, Chinese, US History, Psychology, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Sci.)

I’ll have taken 7, but 3 will have been self-studied.

The average college bound student probably takes 1 ap exam. At my charter school most of the high performing students who end up going to UNC take around 4 APs, which is roughly the top 10% of my class. The most AP classes anyone has ever taken at my school is 14 APs, and he ended up getting into Rice and Vanderbilt. As for me, I took 1 AP sophomore year, 5 APs junior year, and will probably take 4 more APs senior year. I’m also taking 2 dual enrollment classes senior year so around 10 APs total? I am only studying for the AP Macroeconomics exam. I kinda think AP exam self study is a waste of time but that’s just me… You can always read a book about a topic that interests you in your spare time.

Son has 6 APs when he graduates, as a junior. He will have 13 APs if he stays another year, but decided going to college early.

If you’re talking about college bound students, I’d say 2-5.
If said student is trying for a tier 1/ivy league school, probably around 7-12.
I’ve taken 5 APs so far(I’m a sophomore) and I was supposed to take 9 more before I graduate but I got so stressed this year that I’ll probably need to drop out of college prep school…
