I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet up with a group of CCers in NYC, twice. It was so much fun because we shared so many common interests. But the first time I ever did that, I was totally flummoxed. Here I am meeting people I had gotten to know so well as cyber friends, but I didn’t even know what they looked like.

OTOH, I also really worry my neighbors are reading my posts and thinking, "I know lima… why is she complaining about this or bragging about that…? I wonder if i am guilty of oversharing.

Shout out to Marite. I miss her wonderful, helpful posts and incredible insights.

My daughter met Emeraldkity’s daughter when she was complaining about how much I blabbed on CC; EK’s daughter also complained. That was when they figured out who was who… Since then, I’m VERY careful what I say!

^^I haven’t forgotten ya, Bethie! We met! Accidentally in fact! I was just saying that I didn’t recognize anyone on CC that I had known prior to CC. Anyhow, we should meet up on purpose this time!

The one thing that leaves me so incomplete in cyber life is when people who were once active fade away or suddenly disappear. There was a particularly helpful and prolific poster in one of the early “newsgroups” relating to computers, and one day s/he just stopped.

soozievt has great detective skills. She found me in a crowded auditorium in neither of our hometowns. Impressive! Yes, let’s do lunch and shop for a Peggy Potter bowl. Not this minute though. I’m busy for about 2 weeks.

I forgot that I also met Dudedad in a parking at at the Dunn Loring metro stop before I moved from NoVA. He knew from CC that my son went to USC and that I lived in Northern Virginia and he saw my car with the USC sticker on it.

I’ve met 2 cc’ers in real life, not by accident, and I have to say I have enjoyed meeting them very much. I also have few cc’ers whom I communicate through emails and would like to meet sometimes. My family make fun of me and call them my make believe friends.

I am a pretty good snoop. There are few cc’ers whom I have figured out in real life even though I have never met them.

There is one funny story…I was communicating with someone from CC on email. I told her about my best friend in college - a bit of a tragic story about her kid, and how I haven’t talked to her in ages. She said, “Your friend wouldn’t be by chance from this town, just want to tell you, she lived across the street from my house.”

Yes, I’ve met a few in person. Two by design. And one who walked up to me at a local accepted student event and asked, “Are you Colorado_mom”? (I’m still not sure if she asked everybody, or if I look like I sound.)

I’ve also emailed with some very nice CC parents ;)

My younger D had a similar response when I asked her if she’d show Pizzagirl’s D around the Bryn Mawr campus last year: “You know her mother from a message board??? OK.”

So my daughter has met Pizzagirl and her D, but Pizzagirl and I have never met!

Also know another CCer from an email loop that I’ve been in for a long time. She figured out who I was from something I posted here. We met IRL for the first time this spring.

My friend Brad is a CC’er.
Which is funny because he’s my gym partner and he fits the meat-head jock stereotype perfectly!
Lol I found out he was a CC’er when I found the CC app on his phone.

My kids and DH roll their eyes when I hop in the car and drive off to meet my imaginary axe-murderer online CC friends…but I have been some other kid-related listserves and the guys and I always went to the annual get-together with other imaginary axe-murdering parents and kids, and we all had a good time.

I thought i saw a post by marite lately. hmmm
Eddieodessa and i almost took the same cruise. she decided not to go just prior to the discussion. wouldnt that have been fun? i enjoyed your stories

i would be shocked if anyone in a 200 mile radius is a CC parent. what attracted me to this site is there is no one to talk to about these topics here- no really…I am jealous
