…I got tired of counting. I don’t even want to go into the amount of tops/shirts, sleep attires, and lounge wear. It would be a bit crazy. >_< I hate not feeling prepared for every type of situation. I’ve been known as a fashionista.

Shazami, your list looks about perfect. Most of these people are bringing at least four times more clothes than they need. And I am not a minimalist by any stretch of the imagination, I just bought a sofa-bed for my dorm for goodness sake. :P

I think we should make a follow up thread at Christmas about what people ACTUALLY HAVE now that they’ve had the chance to bring stuff home.

I use closet hooks for my scarves/purses. There is also a closet shelf. A lot of my skirts/dresses are cotton, so using thin metal hangers, they actually don’t take up as much room as you would think.

lmao im going to MSU and I’m not bringing much. My roommate and I are very laid back and can switch doing laundry each week between us. College is an experience, and briging everything from home just takes away from that.

wow you all make me feel so excessive
-10 pairs jeans/pants
-15-20 dresses
-5 skirts
-10 button downs/ polos
-15-20 cute tops
-10 tank tops
-20 tshirts (mostly sorority ones i am required to wear)
-4 cardigans
-5 jackets
-5 pairs running shorts/ 10 pairs shorts
-lots of leggings
-15 or so pairs of shoes
-lots and lots of underwear, etc.

and its all fit well for the last 2 years!
-3 sweatshirts

I think some of the naysayers are misjudging how little room clothing takes up. I am even plus-sized, so my clothes take up more space than most people. All of the clothes I listed, plus some I didn’t, fit in about 2 feets of hanging space and two small to medium drawers. Hanging up a dress or shirt doesn’t even take up half an inch of closet space. If you get a pants hanger, you can hang 5 pairs of pants in less than half an inch of space. You can hang 20 scarves or ties on a single scarf hanger. It SOUNDS like a lot, but that doesn’t mean it is. 30 pairs of underwear - especially for a size 5 - don’t even take up half a drawer.

Ok, first, people are saying like 20 purses and 50 shoes, which take up a lot more room than a shirt. Second, if you are a size 5 (given that you said "especially for a size 5) then you are most certainly NOT plus sized. If 5 makes you plus sized, then I must be extra-plus.
