You are all going to end up sending half of this back home with Mommy and Daddy after you move in and find you don’t have room for it…

Shazami, your list looks about perfect. Most of these people are bringing at least four times more clothes than they need. And I am not a minimalist by any stretch of the imagination, I just bought a sofa-bed for my dorm for goodness sake. :P

I think we should make a follow up thread at Christmas about what people ACTUALLY HAVE now that they’ve had the chance to bring stuff home.

I’m actually a junior. I always manage to find space for my clothes. It may not be as roomy as my closets at home, but I make it work. :)

I was pretty much with you (how do you store 6 purses?) until I got to the 17 skirts and dresses. My eyes may have fallen out of my head.

I use closet hooks for my scarves/purses. There is also a closet shelf. A lot of my skirts/dresses are cotton, so using thin metal hangers, they actually don’t take up as much room as you would think.

lmao im going to MSU and I’m not bringing much. My roommate and I are very laid back and can switch doing laundry each week between us. College is an experience, and briging everything from home just takes away from that.

Turns out my closet was nearly three times as wide as I expected it to be. Awesome :D

wow you all make me feel so excessive

But any closet to me is more than I have at home.

What would you do if you found out you might not have a closet?

I am thinking I am going to have to downsize my wardrobe from reasonable to scant…

I can’t think of a single sport that would require 25 pairs of athletic shorts.

Two weeks is ok> of cause, do nnot forget take your favourite.

I think some of the naysayers are misjudging how little room clothing takes up. I am even plus-sized, so my clothes take up more space than most people. All of the clothes I listed, plus some I didn’t, fit in about 2 feets of hanging space and two small to medium drawers. Hanging up a dress or shirt doesn’t even take up half an inch of closet space. If you get a pants hanger, you can hang 5 pairs of pants in less than half an inch of space. You can hang 20 scarves or ties on a single scarf hanger. It SOUNDS like a lot, but that doesn’t mean it is. 30 pairs of underwear - especially for a size 5 - don’t even take up half a drawer.

Ok, first, people are saying like 20 purses and 50 shoes, which take up a lot more room than a shirt. Second, if you are a size 5 (given that you said "especially for a size 5) then you are most certainly NOT plus sized. If 5 makes you plus sized, then I must be extra-plus.

No, I said that I am plus-sized. If someone else is a size 5, then their clothes are going to take up almost no space at all.

Well, I still say 70-80 shirts is overkill. Laundry is a wonderful thing.

2 gym shorts
2 pairs of shoes
