I think you can count me, or at least as 1/2. When my son was little, he played Pokemon on gameboy. Once I dropped him off at school, and picked it up to play, and nearly wasted the entire morning on it. He got home wondering how his characters had gained so much power,ha ha. I used to love the old-school pc games made by Sierra (King’s Quest,Laura Bow,etc) because they were of the puzzle-solving type. Then the kids got a PS2, and the whole family (actually the whole neighborhood)had fun with Crash Bandicoot and several other titles. And I used to kick butt on Tekken. But when games started using mostly 3-D formats, I got left behind. I got dizzy playing them. The kids loved Kingdom Hearts, but even though I thought the story was amusing, the game play seemed kind of stupid:lots of frenetic fighting.

Now that they are older, they don’t play so much. Mostly during holiday weekends, for nostalgia. We don’t have a Wii, and nobody wants one. I used to buy classic titles for PS2 for Christmas gifts, but I think last year was the end of that. But i have to say that I do love many video games. So many have been clever and absorbing, with amazing graphics and often great humor. My son’s friends did think I was unusual, because their moms didn’t get into video games at all. I kinda liked that.

Waay back when our boys were little and Nintendo was the latest greatest thing, DH and I both played games with them. That stopped when they reached middle sch. and abandoned Super Mario Bros. for stuff like the James Bond games and war games.
We don’t even have a video game system at our house anymore.

I suppose we could justify being here because we are doing it “for the kids” so maybe it doesn’t count. My 10yo D has Wii, which I also thought “great” I now can exercise every day. Unfortunately my poor Mii sits unexercised for weeks on end.

S is big on the xbox 360 live games. Unfortunately I have no friends who want to play with me live and I am not really into to playing those shot em up games with strangers from around the globe. S won’t let me play with him, I can’t figure out how to move my men and they end up getting killed in about 30 seconds.

Eh, I was part of a geezers guild on World of Warcraft. The average age when started was about 45. It included retirees in their 70’s and and even had a priest - lol

I found out while doing quests that there were quite a few moms and grandmoms who played when we used the audio parts to communicate during raids. lol Nothing like a mom barking out orders to fight over the computer to a group of 40 people of all ages. We’d have kids as young as 10 to grandmoms in the 70’s.

I finally stopped playing, but I have friends that are trying to lure me back. That being said, X-box and Wii don’t hold my attention for a moment.

For the record, my family had been playing MMORPGs for at least 17 years. When hubby and I were dating we’d play games on the Commodore 64 - (if that doesn’t date you, I don’t know what will - lol)

When son lived at home, I enjoyed taking turns with all the Nintendo games-Donkey Kong, Alladin, also Tetris, Pokemon. My favorite was building Sims cities. There were some mystery games that I liked.

I would not know what games to buy at this point. I’m reading a lot more.

pixeljig, my son wants me to play with him too. I try every once in a while, just to spend some time with him. I do like playing solitaire on the computer though. I am currently in the process of trying to win every game on Pretty Good Solitaire.

I used to play Everquest which was a ton of fun. Stayed out of WoW to keep from the time sink. Wouldn’t want to play a blood and guts game (sons have some shoot’em ups that are pretty graphic) but would consider one of the MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing games) which are very interesting and require lots of social interaction to get anything done. My sons actually comment that they learned alot about computers - file management, system requirements, graphics, as well as social stuff playing with ppl from all over the world.

Oh yes and I used to play tetris compulsively. I have graduated to freecell. Something soooooOOoo satisfying about getting all the little boxes or cards to line up. Sort of like all the little duckies falling into place and the world seems right again. /blush

Ok and one more true confession: when rockstar first arrived at our house I played so compulsively for one day that my thumb was injured. Had to stop that one, lol.
