There were just 2 more princesses in raincoats just now
Our dog loves that kids come to the door to pet her - the candy is just a way to lure them in.
double post
I’ve been ding-donged-ditched twice tonight! Really not sure why, I give at least three pieces of candy, usually one good mini candy bar, plus a tootsie roll and blow pop.
None so far, but it is still early, at 6:50 pm here.
Is it on Friday or Saturday this year? Or both days? Confused.
Our college team has one of those stupidly late made for TV night games so I will leave the lights on late tonight and watch football.
We actually went out to dinner
Turned on the light when we got home so, only about 15.
I just had a group of 5 more and the rain seems to have stopped. We’re on a roll!
And 3 more! The dog’s green Power Ranger costume is a hit
@mcat2 are you asking what day today is? It’s Saturday. We are talking about Halloween…which is today!
What is curious to note is how long various towns have trick or treat. Here, it’s from 6-8pm. I didn’t count the candy but I’d say we had over 100 for sure - max, 150.
None at all. Last year we had one group and thought it was a fluke, as in previous years there had been more kids.
Where I live trick-or-treating is not time limited and Halloween is never “moved” to another day for weather. We sometimes get kids as early as 5pm and they come until 9:30 or so. If it rains it rains. There is a little break in the weather now so we had a flurry of kids.
We live in an area that always has trick or treating on Oct. 30. I am not sure why. I live in an apartment complex with no kids younger than 15, so am not used to having trick or treaters.
I did have 3 kids come trick or treat at my office yesterday. They came after 4:30, so I think they were on their way to start trick or treating in neighborhoods.
We have kids in the neighborhood but it was raining pretty hard during normal trick or treating hours…we got very few.
I don’t want that candy around…I told H to hide it. lol

- More than last year but less than we used to get when our kids' friends would all come by.
If you walk up the BIG hill to our house you get the BIG candy - movie theater sized boxes. There’s nothing fun about fun-sized candy.
So far we have had all little kids - no middle schoolers or older yet.
Lots more than last year…maybe 40+. Ran out of candy, though, so we had to snuff the lights and close the door. My daughters worked the door tonight for the first time, and at one point I heard what must have been a trio of six-year-olds rush up and sing, “Trick or Treat
Smell My Feet
Give Me Something Good to Eat
If You Don’t
We Don’t Care
We’ll Pull Down Your Underwear!”
They giggled, and giggled, and I heard my daughters laugh with them.
Good stuff.
Most communities around here scheduled trick or treating on Thursday night, 6-8pm. We had 127 kids.
Why Thursday? It seems like Halloween on a Friday or Saturday is perfect . . . no school to get up for.
