5 for a semester class and you fail.
10 for a yearlong class and you fail.
For seniors less than 3 with an A average and you’re exempt from exams, <2 with B, and <1 with C.

3 unexcused absences aka truancies a semester, and then you either get Saturday school or a suspension (idk).

But you just need a parent to call and make up any excuse of any kind for it to be cleared.

5 unexcused per semester, 10 per year. And you need a doctor’s note to get it excused, a parent’s phone call won’t work.

Well… you are supposed to come to school every day…

but I know people with like 30 unexcused absences not dropped from classes.

3.

After that, you lose 1 out of 5 credits for the class.

whoa you guys go to strict schools. we allow usually about 30 period / 10 whole day ones. i only had to start taking care of them when i had like 34 (since teachers are annoying sometimes cuz theyll mark you absent for who knows what reason).

We could have five unexcused absences per marking period, so twenty per year. On top of that, you could have an infinite number of half-days, doctor’s notes, suspension days, etc. or anything else considered “excused” (parent notes were “unexcused”). Obviously, you had to be in class enough to pass / not attract attention from the school board. I just got a copy of my transcript and I’ve missed between 15 and 35 days every year. My attendance was generally bad. My mom was totally a “stay home if you want to” kind of mom.

2 unexcused per class per quarter (unexcused = no parent note or call or anything, a true skip)
8 excused absences per class per quarter (parent note/call needed)

Though teachers don’t have to give you the N (failure due to attendance), I got a concussion second term and I had about 10 or so absences in ever class and didn’t receive a single N.

If you miss 20 minutes of one class unexcused you get an hour of dentention at my public high school. We are on block scheduling though so a day missed is really like 2 days since our classes are only half a year.

9 unexcused, and then 9 can be done by parents and the rest have to be a dr or someone offical.

Unexcused is when you aren’t called in. Excused is when parents (or yourself if you’re over 18) call you in.

We’re allowed to have any amount of absences. As long as we make up the work and pass, we can do skip the whole year. However, teachers don’t have to give us our makeup homework and tests if we have an unexcused abscences.

Well, we can miss 2 days or fewer in order to drop our lowest test grade.
Anything other than that, I don’t know

We get 9 excused absences and then we might loose credit for the class. HOwever, you can appeal to the principal and he will make a final decision

I don’t know. I missed 13 days this semester so they won’t let me exempt finals :[

3

10 Char

zero…

10 for us, but it’s just 10 absences regardless. The 10 can be excused, unexcused, you skipping school, being sick, la la la… it’s all valued the same.

Field trips and principal excuses don’t count in the 10, yay for speech & debate!

To the person who said something about unexcused abscences and a Catholic school: My school is Catholic and I get none.

No idea, but I’m up to 38 unexcused this year and still managed to keep an A- overall. We’ll soon find out.

I went back to look at my records, and I’ve missed nearly 300 days of school in my life. Life is good.

Total 110 (excused + unexcused), but less than 51 unexcused. If you skip a random class during the day your counselor will start asking questions. Unexcused can be turned to excused with a parent’s phone call. all this per year. Also depends on your performance. If u can manage to have A’s in all subjects and not come to school at all, they might let u get away with it.
