How many unexcused absences does your school allow?

Just wondering what the attendance policy is at your school-- how many unexcused absences can a student take during a year?

None at all.

None sort of:

one = friday night detention.
three = academic probation
then out.

Even excused absences are difficult to make up. Official policy is that one must attend 60% of class time to pass, but really, a week at a school-sponsored international debate competition or a week of flu will put you so far behind that you will be moved from Higher AP classes back to regular AP or honors to regular classes.

Once you get to junior year, my school doesn’t care anymore. I was never expected to have an excuse, I just had to make sure I caught up with the work. I even left school for more than a week to go on holiday with my family, lol. It really was a nonissue.

3.

Except everyone forges excused notes anyway, so no one has unexcused absences unless they skip a random class instead of skipping the whole day.

I’ve had my friends write a parent’s note to sign out early so many times.

Junior and senior year is about cheating the system, not abiding by it.

wow my school lets 18 unexcused absences. Maybe because its Catholic?

What do you mean by “unexcused”?

At my school, all you need is a “parent” to call you in “sick”. If you don’t, they call your house.

Kids can’t really skip class because of this program called Educator, but when they do, the penalty’s a friday detention. No limit, but now one girl in my class has skipped so many times that she checks in with the attendance secretary every day.

unexcused for my school means your parents have to call in to tell the office you aren’t going. if not they’ll call your house anyway. an excused absence is when you have a doctors note, death in the family, you were in the hospital and like yeah …

We had 18 ‘absences’ as our max, but there were also ‘exempts’, and everything was an absence except court dates and suspensions, and I think there was 1 more thing. I remember that field trips and hospitalizations were excused absences, but could not have more than 18 days total. Doctors’ notes were the same thing. A parent’s note was an unexcused absence and 3 would give detention.

Hahahaa in my school I may not show up at school for 2 weeks without my parents calling.Then,I fake some health note and no one can tell me anything .After 1 or 2 months ,same story.
I can also skip tests and classes when I am bored.My gpa is 4.00 / 4.00

Oh, we can have as many “parents call in” days as we want…

30 absents then u dont get the credit

14 absences a year.

We have 16 absences for full year courses before losing credit, 8 absences for semester courses before losing credit, and 6 absences from health (something like that), which is one quarter, before losing credit. You can technically excuse those all with doctors notes & other stuff, so you can theoretically go over 16.

i dunno about unexcused, but the policy for excused is that if you’re absent for more than 5% of the class periods, the teacher can deny you credit

so, 9 for everyday classes; 4 or 5 for ones that you have every other day

of course, lots of people miss way more than that, but technically the teacher could refuse to award them credit

“unexcused absences” are only school related absences or if you are out for a long time due to a sickness with a doctors note.

5 absences without dr. note etc your on academic probation
10, no diploma

i have 40 unexcused absences. my school dgaf haha i love it.

i just hope it doesnt come to bite me in the butt one day…

^haha noob what kind of lame-o ditches school that much.
only someone who doesn’t have friends would do that

10 a year unexcused
