hello
i am applying for class of 2014
can someone please whether my acceptance at any college can be cancelled because of my final report
i was studyin fo IIT sigh but now am really tired of doin so and so am have not prepared for boards
i have no clue how much im goin to score so was doubtful if theyll cancel my admission (im damn sure im goin to pass)

Nopes, they won’t kill you just like that. At the very worst, you can mail them about your awesome JEE rank and explain your suckiness in boards.

Which board are you doing? Contact me, I can help you quite a bit I guess! In 11th I did really sucky (Yea HORRIBLE) and now in 12th I’ve changed some things and I’m scoring in the 80s, if I study I’ll definatly get upper 90s but thats the problem with me I hate going through the same rote crap again and again and again… Its so boring! You have a month to study, and even I should get to my studying too…

WoW! Can you post your secret recipees here?

Tuition, an AWSOME one with AWSOME EXCELLENT TEACHERS.

Studying regularly, and NOT the week/day before the exam. I infact do the opposite of most of my classmates, study regularly when I’m more free and relaxed and not stressed about coming exams, and I only have to scan through and everything is recalled during the exams. Your peers might be like “DUDE, why are you studying now?” But just don’t bother.

SUMMARY CARDS! This helps a LOT, in these stupid Indian cities especially. You can make up for a lot of time like when traveling in the bus etc. instead of staring out the window, make summary cards and revise. Your summary cards should be only a summary, the key points not entire stories.

Chill out, find a way to manage your stress. Meditation might help you, you’ll have to find out a way to chill out on your own. For me it was just sitting still, being calm, and thinking about a quiet relaxing place, such as being in some forest/in natural habitat etc…
gary7, looks like you have YIM :D

i am doing gujarat board
i am on the verge of giving up IIT since it is too much burden and now that im pretty confident of getting in atleast one of the 16 colleges that i applied, ive become relaxed and am waiting for the results
i havent touched my JEE book for a month now but i used to score like 98%ile on FIITJEE and scored ~95%ile on their open test
but can they cancel my admission or will they give me conditional acceptance since i am not sure of getting good grades
the course work is too boooooring and i cant mug up at all ( those familiar with the gujarat board know that it is 0 application and 100% mugging)
im thinking of taking the APs since then ill atleast have something to do in the meantime

Yea, I know what you mean when you talk about the state boards. I’m in the Karnataka Pre-University board, and even people who used to get 80-90 in ICSE or CBSE (The CBSE Students do worse, there are 2 CBSE guys in my class who got ~85% in their 10th Boards, but now fail miserably) are hit hard in 11th.
I think the exams should check how well the student can do both without studying and with studying. It would be 80/95 for me lol.

Which 16 schools did you apply to?

i have applied to
MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, UIUC, Purdue, Gatech, Caltech, UMich, UPenn, UVA, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Harvey Mudd, USC, Penn State University Park (safety)

@poseidon:

Can you elaborate on the AP (Advanced Placement) courses you’re talking about?

Coz I’m from Ahmedabad and I’ve graduated HS from GSHSEB (Gujarat Board) too and I’ve never heard of any AP tests being offered here.

am planning to take AP calculus BC and physics C
Advanced placement tests are offered in ahmedabad at ahmedabad international school
i just talked to the principal yesterday and she will be giving me the details in a few days
smit if u wanna know more pm me us number n ill call u wen i get more info

poseidon, thanks man. you can text me on 9727595155. Haha, my phone’s been snatched away by my mum and she lets me use it only on weekends. lame. ■■■.

But dude, I was from a different school! Can I still take the AP courses at AIS? And what about college credit? Will they still offer college credit? (Because I haven’t mentioned in any of my college apps that I have or i’m gonna take APs)

Just like Kushalk said,
i’m also doing karnataka board. I did cbse till tenth and got 87 % in the final but now after joinin the state syllabus my grades have nose dived. Mainly because the subject matter is so vague and uninteresting. I’m now struggling to pass.

I’ve almost given up on boards, im just looking to pass with a 60% coz ive already applied to 4 universities. Hopefully i can get in. A 60% cant change admission decisions can it?

Hey smit even im from a diff school. dont study in AIS. and have not mentioned about AP on my apps. But im pretty sure colleges will give credit if tell them my scores after gettin accepted.

I’m hoping to use AP exams and the SAT + Subject tests to prove that even though I get ~75% in PU Boards, I can easily get a high GPA if I was in an American Highschool. You should have stayed in CBSE and I should’ve taken ISC.

Yea definitely… worst decision of my life to switch to PU board… The text books and teachers are pathetic to say the least… I wish i knew that we could take the AP exams, i would have done that to show the same. But now its all done… im just hoping to get into my uni’s… If im accepted and then get a 50% on the boards, can they revoke admission?? or is it only if you fail…

Ya Zoheb, i have the same question but i dont think this kindda stuff has happened to neone out here. But im hopin that my APs will be enough to show em what i got.

Btw i have 800 in math2, physics and chem and so i hope that theyll pay more attention to that than my final report :)

poseidon226, looks like we’re in the same boat. How much do you think you’ll get in 12th Boards, and how much did you get in 10th Boards?

I just wish these Universities would release exactly how they look at our Indian scores, like how they report their incoming freshman GPA averages, instead of just saying that they look at it differently with respect to the Indian system. I University I contacted said “We would need your 10th and 12th grade board exams. We would review your scores compared to the Indian system, if you do well compared to the scores required then that is fine.”

I am expectin around 65-70% in 12th boards
I got 85.38% in 10th boards

Taking AP Exams this May? I’m highly concentrating on those. They really check your reasoning and analytical skills. Plus I love the grading system!
