How Much Financial Aid is Normally Given

I’m just curious about the amount of financial aid given at some of the private schools. We did not apply for FA, but I know others who have, and it was granted. Do schools usually give 100% of tuition for financial aid? Or is it a percentage? Just wondering.

How much aid is given depends on a family’s need and the school’s financial resources. Some families get 100% aid. Others get close to that amount. Still others get a much smaller percentage. And many, many others get either nothing or not nearly enough and, for that reason, have kids who are not able to attend boarding school. Many candidates are simply denied admission because schools just don’t have enough aid for everyone who needs it.

It’s based on the parent’s assets and ability to pay. There is no one grant or formula. Some schools give out 100% aid but that is only in the case of extreme need.

The majority of students at most boarding schools are full-pay and received no aid.

In addition, some schools take the amount of Parent Contribution from SSS as THE number, others use all the data families give SSS, use the “formula” make their own adjustments and come up with their own family contribution number.
As as been said, some schools then meet that need, meet a % of it, or none of it. All depends on the school. Many variables.
