<p>Being fluent in French and Russian besides English also gives her a huge advantage over most US college applicants.</p>
<p>She should be finding plays that she enjoys reading, plays that get her excited and say “I would LOVE to play this particular part in this particular play”. If she doesn’t like the plays she is reading, they are probably not the right plays for her.</p>
<p>Many people do get back on track after taking a gap year, or even a longer break. For me, I needed to take some time to really think about why I was going to school and what my goals were. Without that, it was very hard to get up the motivation needed for school. But taking a break meant that I could come back a different person–older and wiser. A gap year can give a taste of what “the real world” is really like when you don’t have a degree, and some people need to experience that for themselves.</p>
