How much time do you spend doing homework/studying on the weekends?

on average how much weekend work do you usually get? if you get a lot, how do you manage social life with all your homework?

I’m just an 8th grader right now, but my life gets REALLY REALLY busy from October-April (because of Science Olympiad competition season). Homework, I get around 1-2 hours a day, and just 1 hour for the weekends, but my after-school activities: tennis and Science Olympiad have me stay at school until 5:30, in which I then arrive home on the late bus at 6:00. I then finish my homework and study for any tests within the next week, and spend the rest of the night studying/building for Science Olympiad. My entire social life is at school or at my classes, and Science Olympiad is VERY social, since studying with partners, building with partners, or comparing notes always has a healthy social element in it.

Since you asked for the weekends: during the weekends, as I mentioned, I get 1 hour of homework on average. I do have three different art classes, a Chinese AP class, and a karate class I have to go through, which is still pretty social, and then I go back home to finish the one hour of homework and spend the rest of the time doing Science Olympiad. If there are birthday parties or other important event on Saturday, I can move an art class to attend, but Sunday is filled with immobile classes.

I’d say the best way to manage your social life is to study with friends (actually study, not fool around), make sure to talk to them during school, at class, etc., and also to be very flexible about scheduling and time after school.

I’m a senior, so I get maybe 5-6 hours of homework a night right now. It’s difficult, especially because I have a lot of extracurriculars.
The best advice I can give you is to always put your homework first. Friends can be seen in the summer, vacations, but your grades matter for college and a test/quiz/project should always come first. You can study with your friends if you will remain productive, but always prioritize your academics over your social life.
