How necessary is it to decline your offer of admission?

A little context:
I applied to a few colleges, most I considered more heavily than others. Because of COVID-19, almost every school I applied to extended their decision deadline to June 1. keyword here is almost. Now that I’ve made my decision, I’ve been reaching out to the schools I won’t be attending to decline my offer of admission. It was during this time that I realized I missed a school whose deadline was May 1 and never sent a letter/postcard/email. In admissions etiquette how bad is that? Should I reach out now (may 9) or just let it go?

It might be nice to shoot them an email. Under ordinary circumstances you could let it go, as most won’t hold your spot past the deadline anyway. Given the unusual times and hints at under-enrollment at some schools, it might be nice to let them know so they don’t follow up with you. Your choice really.
