I recently won the Sewanee Book Award for Exellence in Writing. I don’t know much about Sewanee, but does anyone know how prestigious this award is (if at all) and whether or not it means anything to college admissions officers?
Thanks!

I don’t know how admissions officers take it…but I see that “The University of the South or Sewanee Book Award is given to a junior who shows excellence in writing. This student should have demonstrated willingness to assume responsibility in leadership roles within the school community.”
So that would tell me that you are very good in writing, and hopefully you are interested in a major where writing is useful. Also it indicates that you show leadership…these are all good things.
