We waited over two months. Cheer007- I hope you are admitted. You have certainly done everything you can. Wishing you only the best!

@doingthisagain: you are not rooting for me??? I know you gave me motherly advice… But, root for me for either Wake Forest or Tulane…

I’ll let everyone know… OK

Hey 13- even though I wanted to smack you in the head, I did wish you best of luck. Cheer has been around since I started so I feel like she is an old cyber pal. Every kid can not get into the school of their choosing. Things happen for a reason. As my name indicates, I have been through the college process before. I believe completely that there is not just one perfect school for every applicant. Like dresses or slacks, many will fit beautifully, not just one. Sometimes you only want to try on one garment but if it is not right because of price or availability. You are forced to look further. Lo and behold, you find something else just as good OR better. You have to be open to the process and not be immobilized by disappointment. At 17 or 18 everyone thinks they have the answers but us old-timers know that life takes twists and turns. Acceptance to a specific college does not define you.

Doingthisagain, VERY well put!!

My son just got a deferral in the mail. 32 ACT composite, 4.10 GPA, did the essay, President of NHS and a bunch of other EC’s, 8 APs…he never showed them any interest, I think that made the difference. Honestly, he isn’t interested in New Orleans, so no big deal. Good luck to everyone! Oh, and Gibson still says “pending”…

What was the date of the letter? When was it postmarked and where are u from?

December 7, 2012 and we live in Maryland, right outside Washington, D.C.

Someone relayed to me in an e-mail that they talked to admissions and was told that Gibson would not reflect the deferred status until after Friday.

Mine is still “Pending” and I didn’t get anything in the mail today. I’m from Ohio… Just an FYI !

Can’t tell if I am just being pessimistic, but it seems like we haven’t heard about any acceptances in awhile… that sort of seems like bad news. My daughter is going to be seriously disappointed. In the event she is deferred, does anyone know what happens next? Is it “rolling admissions” after that time, or do applicants just roll into the regular decision pool and wait it out until spring?
Also, does admissions ever give feedback to deferred candidates? Given the strength of her application I would assume that any deferral would be related to the fact that she didn’t visit and/or they don’t think she is interested. But if there is something negative in her application that we are not aware of, that would obviously be great to know.
Any wisdom to share?

Status changed today from application complete to pending review. My guess is deferral…any accepted students have this as a message prior to admittance?

Wordy64 - Might as well wait until you really have a decision before getting into all that stuff. I still have a hard time believing with her stats and having done the Why Tulane essay along with touching base with her admissions person that she won’t get accepted. Her app was near the deadline, so it could just be volume. I have heard it was a very heavy year for early apps.

Hi FC - In their contact with the Admissions Office, did your source learn if all decisions will be out by Friday? DS is still holding with the appplication complete message. Tulane - we love you - please show some love back!!!

Fallenchemist - you are right of course. Just trying to plan ahead to soften the blow…if there is one…but we just need to sit tight.

Aquamom - They said they were going to have all the letters in the mail by Friday. They didn’t say if that included those people that applied between Nov. 15 and 26 because of the “Sandy extension”, but definitely for those that had them in by the 15th.

Thanks FC. His application was in October 25th and was complete November 9th.

I was just accepted today, and I applied back in in early September. Don’t be discouraged if you haven’t heard yet, I really thought I was going to be deferred, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Congrats Kelsosands! Glad to hear there is still some good news out there!

Prior to your acceptance, what did your status say?
