How soon will we hear about admission decision?

it felt good to “do the right thing” and especially to do it with your teenager who for a moment was thinking “why can’t we keep it?” one of those teachable moments!

Jozuko–what a cool story! I don’t think I’ve seen an actual Rolex up close and personal. ;)

And I’ve got to stay at the Roosevelt next time I’m in NOLA.

apparently, the Rolex owner had stayed in our room the previous week. he thought that he left it on the dresser. the room was searched but for some reason, no one thought to look in the safe ?(which was open BTW). i suspect that someone took it then got spooked by the “investigation” and returned it to the safe. can’t be sure.

Hi everyone and happy New Year. It seems forever since I have been on CC. We just got back from vacation welcomed by my DD’s acceptance letter- FINALLY! ( you guys are right, great envelope.) My DD was awarded an $8,000 scholarship and was very excited. Needless to say, she has already put down her deposit. Wow, what a journey this whole process has been. One child down, 2 more to go!! Have a lot of you committed yet?

congrats oliver! very happy that you finally got your letter and with some $$ too! Happy New Year!

I would say I’ve committed but I haven’t put my deposit down. What I mean is I will definitely go if I am able to afford it. But I don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on college each year. So I probably have to wait until I get FA and any other scholarships.

Me too Bowler! Right now I feel like Tulane is where I want to go, providing that I get more scholarship money. Haha I’m so jealous of all the kids who know where they’re going an can put down deposits. Hopefully it will all work out for us!

Lol did you see the post on the Tulane Facebook page? Haha how appropriate

Yeah I hope it works out, too! If I had to go anywhere else I would be extremely depressed and upset for a while. I’d probably get over it eventually though. I’ve just had my heart set on Tulane since the day I decided to apply.

And no I didn’t see the post. What did it say?

Just the meme about college being expensive. Well, best of luck to you–I’m sure everything will be fine no matter where you end up going

Oh I did see that! I just didn’t realize it when you said something about it. And thank you. I agree everything will be fine no matter where I end up going. It would just be nice to play a sport in college. I didn’t think I was going to have the opportunity to do that before I discovered Tulane.

What can it mean of the accepted status box has been blank for four days and all required materials have been in the admission office since November marked as complete? Anyone experience this before? Thanks for replying!

Yeah, that seems to happen with Gibson from time to time. We were never sure if it was some kind of overall update they run or what, but it never seems to result in any actual problems. If you don’t see things back to normal by first of next week, I would write to your admissions officer at Tulane and make sure something didn’t go wrong with your record, but most likely it is nothing serious.

We have called the admission office twice and been told it will update in 24 hours. It has not. Quite frustrating, as from the person on the phone it seems as if a decision is in, but somehow not available? We left a message with her admission counselor but have heard nothing yet?
You would think that if it was a system issue it would be an overall problem. I guess we keep waiting!

Accepted today. Surprised since I applied so long ago.

thermals were you deferred?

Congrats thermals. But again since Tulane, like many schools, only promises an answer by April 1, I am not sure why anyone is surprised. I understand that since they do often let people know earlier than that, even when not applying EA, it is easy to hope for an earlier decision. In fact you got one, almost a month ahead of the deadline.

@thermals Congratulations! Did you apply RD or EA?

@Cheer007 No, I wasn’t.

@fallenchemist

I thought I applied during EA which is why I am surprised haha. I gave up checking gibson like two weeks after the notification date because I assumed I was going to get rejected. Just started checking again last week.

@jaccrazzi

Thanks!

And I’m really not sure haha. I thought I made the EA date, but I didn’t get a response on the week that everybody else was getting notified. Sorry

thermals - OK, that makes a lot more sense now. So either you got deferred and somehow never got the notification, Tulane screwed up and accidentally put you in the RD pool instead of EA, or you meant to check off EA but did not. Moot point now, since you are accepted, but each of those things happen every year to a few people.
