How soon will we hear about admission decision?

It’s been doing that for a week now. I’m not sure but don’t think it has anything to do with a change in status. I believe it’s for maintenance.

@WaitingGame2 How can you get on? When I go to Gibson it is still under maintenance!

For me, it was under maintenance for a long time, but cleared itself over the weekend. I thought maybe my computer was the problem so I cleared the history and tried again and it worked this weekend. Don’t know if that had anything to do with it.

Jeff Schiffman commented on the blog post that trojan13 was talking about and said that Tulane accepted 25% of applicants. This sounds like they have already accepted everyone that they plan on accepting. Does this mean bad news for those of us who are still waiting?

UGH - so many glitches with different colleges - driving me crazy!!!

@courtzerangue I really hope that’s not true :frowning:
In another thread @BTMell said, “I did hear back from my son’s admissions counselor - what a fast reply! She said they are still going through files to make the best decisions possible and there still are admission spots available for qualified and competitive candidates. Who knows if my son will be considered either but at least there’s a chance!”

So there’s still hope and they’re still looking at applications!!!

@jaccrazzi I really hope its not true too! I applied EA and was deferred. I didn’t really care when I was deferred but Tulane has quickly become my first choice. I am so anxious to get a decision! As the deadline of April 1 approaches its gets more and more stressful!

I have checked the website again and it shows it is down for maintenance - UGH!!!

OK - checked the portal via Google Chrome and it says “Your decision is pending review” I check the portal via Google and it says it is down for maintenance. I am so confused!

Okay so I’m on Gibson and I my application is “pending review” still. UGH!
So I click on “Financial Aid”, I click the summary of current status link and select the aid year (2013-2014) and click submit. Not surprisingly, nothing shows and it says I have unsatisfied “Student Requirements”. I click on that link, and it brings me to a page where under “Unsatisfied Requirements” it shows that my admission is pending but the “Status” box says “Established and Requested”. What does that mean? Does anyone else’s say that?

At worst, a week from Sunday it will all be over. I don’t know exactly what all those messages mean, but at this point might as well just be patient.

@jordanneford: I’m pretty sure it means that they can’t work on your financial aid package because you haven’t received an admission decision yet. They have established and requested that the committee will review your decision, and if you get accepted, they will then determine who much you’ll get.

Oh that makes sense. I’m just so nervous!!! I’ve only been accepted to one school out of three so far and tulane is definitely my top choice. :frowning: so anxious

Gibson Tulane said decisions come out latest at April 1. Good luck to everyone.

@cheer
I am a little late in my congrats, but I still wanted to say - so happy for you. You completely deserve this!!!
There is a lot about CC that is stress inducing, but the support that people offer each other on some boards (like the Tulane board) shows what a positive community it can be.
Also - so ridiculously informative. Wish I had stumbled on to this before my daughter even started applying - I will be much more ready for this process when it is my son’s turn.

“Jeff Schiffman commented on the blog post that trojan13 was talking about and said that Tulane accepted 25% of applicants. This sounds like they have already accepted everyone that they plan on accepting. Does this mean bad news for those of us who are still waiting?”

If you look closely, you will see that the 25% comment is dated 2012. I think Tulane Jeff cut/pasted from a similar blog post from last year.

He does say that decisions for this cycle have pretty much been made by now and are on their way out to applicants. I don’t think he has yet said anything about number of apps and admission percentage for this cycle yet.

FC – have you heard any stats about this year’s rodeo yet?

Hi northwesty. Yes, in fact I have read bits and pieces, so it seems to come together this way:

~32,000 apps
~7,500 acceptances (23.5%)
hoping for a class of 1,500 (20% yield)

I think there will still be a few more acceptances as they get students that already have offers declining the invitation. But for the most part, it will be a lot of denials and waitlisting. I don’t know how many deposits/indications of matriculation they have received so far, although if CC and private correspondence are any indication (which they aren’t, unfortunately but if they were…) it seems pretty healthy this year. So I think the number of available slots might be fairly small. But who knows, since like I said what I see from those means is no doubt biased, statistically.

@ fallenchemist…you have wonderful insight to tulane admissions and i was just wondering how you have so much of, what seems to be, inside info…

Thanks, but it isn’t inside info actually. Just the right combination of being an alum, being a current Tulane parent, and following most of the information that comes out about Tulane. That, and the fact that I have some insight into other schools (nothing like about Tulane but still more than most people probably have) due to having been on many campuses and interacted with various people due to my job, and I just have a keen interest in this general area. Everyone needs a hobby! I do know some people in the administration at Tulane, and occasionally that has yielded some interesting information, but I don’t talk to them that often. I don’t want to bug them about CC issues unless I think it is really important.

thanks…just curious, my daughter was def EA…waiting to hear…doesnt look too promising, but it all works out in the end…other options…thank you for your knowledge, makes waiting easier
