How soon will we hear about admission decision?

Unless Tulane instructs you specifically to do that, don’t worry about it. I think they (Tulane) takes care of this by contacting your high school. I am sure that my D didn’t have to initiate anything herself.

Does anyone hear know anything about the difficulty of getting into TU’s Honors College after their freshman year?

I know it’s possible…

You need to have a 3.6+ to get into the program after freshman year.

Does one automatically get in if they have a 3.6 GPA or is there more of an evaluation to it?

I don’t think there is any particular evaluation, but you do have to apply, mostly because you have to affirm that you want to do a senior thesis or project that qualifies for graduating with highest honors. There are always students that qualify for the HP that choose not to pursue it because of this requirement. They simply have no interest in doing the research, and their career goals are such that graduating summa cum laude or magna cum laude doesn’t matter that much to them.

Awesome, 3.6 UW can’t be that hard as long as I’m not taking any graduate-level physics classes or anything.

Well, I guess you will find out once you get into your classes and see how the tests and papers go. To state the obvious, it is easier for some students than others. But I will say that with good time management, proper discipline, and by taking advantage of the resources that Tulane offers (office hours with the prof, free tutoring at the advising center, etc.) any student capable of getting into Tulane is capable of achieving a 3.6+. Some majors are potentially harder on the GPA than others, as you alluded.
