How to ask a girl to prom from far away?

I’m doing something special second semester of my senior year and I’m away from my High School. I won’t be returning until about two weeks from the dance so I don’t really have a way to ask her in person… I have a girl in mind already. I could call her and ask her but that seems like a lame way to do it. Likewise I could send a tweet but that seems overtly public and also lame. The best I have come up with so far is to send her a series of snapchats every day of me holding up a letter in different locations spelling out like “will you go to prom with me?” Which could be cool… I could also have my friends do something in person and hold up an ipad with me on the screen through skype…

CC do you have any ideas?

The snapchat idea is great, but don’t leave it a day between every letter, it would just be incredibly annoying, and she’d probably have forgotten them by the time she got the next one.

The snapchat thing is cute, but think it through… if I got a bunch of random letters from a guy, I’d be confused as hell haha.

agreed, send the letters one after the other, maybe, in the same hour. a day in between will drag it on for too long.

Don’t do anything elaborate/public unless you’re 100% sure she wants to go with you anyway…it’s not fair if she feels like she can’t say no because you made a big deal out of asking. Calling and asking seems fine to me.

lol make sure that she wants to go with you before perhaps embarrassing yourself in an extravagant way. I’d give her an ask through the phone.

Agreed on the note of making sure that she’d want to go with you. I’m not sure if you’re a musical person, but I have a friend whose prom date was away at a special high school programme, so he wrote a song about asking her to prom and took a video of him performing it and posted it to her Facebook wall. Slightly cheesy, but it’s still really sweet, and you can make it comedic :)

The thing with Snapchat is that she wouldn’t be able to keep them for memories (unless she took screenshots of every message) which, if I were in her position, would be kind of a bummer to me… great idea aside from that, though!

Maybe live chat her (Skype, FaceTime, etc.) and just ask whats up and what not, nothing weird and then you could like say “Hey I’ve got some homework I need help on, would you mind?” she could say yes or sure and then bring the camera down and have like “Will you go to prom with me?” written/typed on the paper and have multiple choice like “A:yes, B: A, C:B” or something like that. Not public just in case AND you’re asking her kind of in person. Idk if this is a bad idea haha sorry
