So my boss calls me when he wants me to work, and he hasn’t called me for the last 7 months (not usual). I’ve only worked for him a few times so far but his previous employees told me the max was usually 4 months or so without a call. I’ve called him various times and he doesn’t pick up. I’m planning on leaving a voicemail but how should I phrase it? Thanks!

“so…do I still have a job or what?”

be aggressive. Employers like that

^lol don’t say it that way. Just ask if there are any more days he’d like for you to work so you can plan out your schedule.

haha thanks. I can’t really ask about planning out my schedule though because the way he works is that he’ll call me and I’d work the next day or something pretty soon. So it’s not really one of those jobs where there are set “shifts,” know what I mean?

bummppppppppppp

do you sell drugs? I used to live in DC and your “schedule” seems all too familiar to the older kids that lived around me lol

Not sure if this works on the phone, but this is what I did in person. I said “I really enjoyed working here and if possible I’d love to work here [insert time].” If it’s not something you actually like doing then maybe it won’t work out so well.

good luck!
