How to be efficient during summer vacation?

any ideas?

Getting Things Done by David Allen

Don’t sleep in till noon.

-Get up fairly early. Around 9 or 10AM seems like a good time to start the day.
-Find something constructive to do.

I woke up at 9 this morning. It was the first time I’d done so all summer of my own volition (although I was forced to for much of it, having a 9:00 class for two weeks at Summer@Brown.)

How did I use this time? I planned to read some of my Barron’s SAT II Chem book for a few hours before my boyfriend woke up. Instead, I caught up on the CC and facebook stuff I’d missed while at Brown.

Sigh.

Anyways, regarding efficiency: the only way I’ve gotten some of my summer work done is by setting goals for myself. I’m not good at scheduling my time on a day-to-day basis, but I set deadlines for when I’d have certain amounts of work done and stuck to them (for the most part.) It helps to have a friend with the same assignments to complete and to set goals together – it’s motivation. (When I fell behind, I couldn’t stand for my boyfriend to be ahead of me, so I worked hard to catch up. xP)

I’m pretty efficient at vacationing.

^Why? 10char

Because half your day is already gone. Time flows by a lot quicker, it seems. When you wake up early, you have enough time, and seemingly more ambition, to find something to do, as opposed to killing time on CC or something.

Alright. I get what you mean. But for me, I’m totally nocturnal during summer. Of course people will say ‘you’re wasting your day away!’ (family, not friends) but the thing is, I’m awake when they’re sleeping. They’re wasting their night away  But alright

Don’t be stupid, Get to work.

^A wallpaper I saw said that…motivation maybe?

Depends on everyone.

I wake up never before 1pm in the summer. Sleep at 1AM. Seems to be the same for me, not a difference.

Is this a joke?

Schedule stuff for the day instead of just laying around thinking about doing stuff.

Someone gets it! Basically find a schedule that works for you and stick to it. But before you do that you need some sort of goal so that you’ll be able to assess how well you did. For example, if I want to get 5 assignments completed in Physics today, it doesn’t matter what time I wake up, its all a matter of using my time on the Internet efficiently, which might mean staying away from CC, Facebook, and Youtube…even if someone sends me a message, posts a cool link, or something interesting happens. It requires a personal level of restraint and motivation to get tasks accomplished. It seems that unproductive days seem to fly by quicker than those where I’m actually getting things done.

if nothing just work out at a gym or jog outside or something. I mean after a good jog or workout I feel like I’ve been extremely productive no matter what I’ve done up to that point.

have a summer fling…haha

eat alot.

PARTY.

you will have it all out of your system and be ready to work!

^good advice right thur

BAH! who needs efficiency during the summer?

hang out with girls, like I did.

Not forget that you have three online classes and do not wait until there’s 20 days of summer left to decide you want to finish two of the classes before summer ends :stuck_out_tongue: Not that I know anyone that’s happened to shifty eyes I don’t know where you got that idea from.
