How to contact a college officer regarding course plan?

Euroazn-- to answer your original question, I agree with the others that there is no single college “officer” (or more likely, advisor) who will answer your question. For D1, who is double majoring in Physics and Astronomy, which are in the same college, the advisors really just focus on their own department. And, as others have said, the weight is really on your shoulders to make your 4-yr plan. Since you’ve looked up what is required for your 3 intended majors, you’re on the right track. Yes, I do think it is possible for you to graduate with 3 majors (or more likely double degrees plus one) in 4 years if you’re bringing in that many credits. (my 2 kids had 35ish and 50ish AP credits when they started at UMD) D will have a double degree plus a minor; she could have had 3 “majors” if she had decided to take classes instead of doing on-campus research, doing research at NASA, or been a TA for 2 semesters.

However, what others have tried to tell you in various ways is that you cannot assume that you’ll be able to cleanly able to set up the schedule you need as easily as it looks on paper. Between my 2 D’s at UMD, they’ve registered for 10 separate semesters at UMD, and even they both register earlier in their peers because of the # of APs they brought in, neither has ever gotten their first choice as far as classes go. I’m not talking about preferred hours to take the classes, either. As a jr and sr., D1 has found that she has had to choose between a certain Physics class vs. a certain Astronomy class because they are both held at exactly the same time.

And finally, whether you intend to or not, on nearly every UMD-related post you have had, you do “sound” very arrogant in your posts. It seems pretty clear that since you consider yourself so much ahead of the game, and that everything will go according to plan, I suspect being at UMD would simply frustrate you. I think you would be bored having to lower yourself to attend the same classes as the other “average” Terps…I wish you good luck in your future endeavors, whether they be in Philadelphia, NYC, or College Park. I do also assume that as time and experiences come and go, your maturity level will at some time get to the level of your intelligence.

I would ask, however, that if you do post something on the UMD site where you are asking a “question” that you be willing to listen to the “answers” that others give you. This has been a very supportive thread, at least for the last 4 years, and continues to be. Don’t ask the question if you have to challenge nearly everything that anyone else says.
