Me and 2 of my friends really want to go to the beach together for memorial day weekend. We are all 16 years old. We all work and will pay for the trip ourselves. The beach is only 2 hours away and we are all very mature. Both of my friends have already gotten their parent permission but my mom still won’t let me. What should I do?

Talk to her about how you’ll check in with her,and try to make her understand that its only a weekend, and use this line “don’t you remember when you were a teenager and your parents wouldnt let u go somewher…” try to convinve her that your responsible and muture, compare yourself to other kids and make yourself look golden…make her a nice breakfast and persuade her

I wouldn’t let my kid go away for a weekend with friends. I’m seventeen and I wouldn’t want to go away for a weekend with friends. Even if you are all mature there is still too much opportunity for disaster, or even just an accident to happen. A day trip, on the other hand, would e a great idea. I’ve gone on day trips with friends three hours away. It’s great.

oh I didn’t get that it was actually a night trip…if it is then I get why your mom says no. Sorry but I really don’t think 16 yr olds should do that…

My mom would never let me do that and I probably wouldn’t let my kids do that (I’m 16 btw). I work too, but that doesn’t entitle me to do whatever I want. A day trip sounds like a much better idea. I’m surprised your friends’ parents would let them go away for the weekend alone.
